Taken from a post in District 25. Have to say I agree.
Brothers,
I’ve been thinking about the future of our lodges. Brothers, we all need to work together. A lodge can’t function like a well oiled machine on the backs of very few.
Think of the committees in your lodges. How many fully invest, pitch in and help? Is it many or is it just a few? Brothers, the FEW get tired and worn out. It’s time brothers step up. Past Masters who have faded to the sidelines or further, I know you were worn after your year but YOU are the knowledge in the lodge for the young brothers. You are the leadership and you set the example! Do you want the lodge to prosper? Step up again and help, whether it be a committee or instructing...which brings me to a final point.
Instruction: Brothers, we’re all good at signing those petitions and dropping those white balls in the ballot box but why then, does it stop there? Degree work has less and less turn out. We get them through the EA and then nobody wants to step up for instruction and it falls to just a few. Why are more brothers not stepping up and helping bring our new brothers to further light? Our lodges belong to all of us and we do a disservice to our new brothers if we bring them in and don’t help move them further. If you don’t know or remember the degrees, learn it. Brothers, the responsibility lies on all of our shoulders. Let’s all pitch in and do our part. If we give our new brothers good and wholesome instruction, hopefully they two will be motivated to step up and take some of the work load.
Just something that has been on my mind for a while. Hopefully it helps to motivate some to come back into the fold and stepping up.
Volunteers feel free to contact me!
Love you brothers
