What makes a location "great?" Many of our guests appreciate our proximity to Highway 34 and easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park; others are happy that the grocery store, several restaurants, and gas stations with convenience stores are right across the street.
My favorite thing about our location is how easy it is to forget that we're right in the middle of town...

This picnic table project was more than just a project - it's a perfect example of what we're all about here at the Oasis on Eisenhower: reclaiming, recycling, and repurposing in ways that increase and spread joy.

Jason salvaged the table last year when he helped a divorcing couple clear out their house. The niece who was living with us at the time sanded the table and repaired its cracks and holes. Then it sat all winter by our pine tree, disassembled and waiting until we could get to it again.

Late spring I started painting the black base coat using leftover paint from our last house. Then Jason put the table back together by the swim spa, and I started hand-painting it using salvaged paint from the landfill. Instead of just using brushes, I experimented adding shapes with random objects from the shop and my office: a Chapstick container, plastic gears, little pieces of metal hardware, and all sorts of other things.

It's late July, and the project is finally complete! The table has new life and you have a beautiful place to put your swim towel while you enjoy the sunset from the swim spa...
