When you own a house that is over 100 years old it needs updating sometimes. The Farm House's front porch was the recipient this time.
The floor was soft, the front door looked warn, the box on the porch was unpleasant to the eye, the rail around the half wall needed repair and there was rotten wood by the screen door. So we gave it some love.
For the demo .. DJ tore out the old floor. Then he replaced the posts that hold up the floor joists and re-enforced the floor joists with new ones. He tore out the shell around the box, the rails around the half wall and the rotten wood by the screen door. I loaded the old boards on the tractor and hauled them to the burn pile.
Then we replaced the floor & the box with tongue & groove knotty pine. My job was to cut the boards and DJ installed them. We replaced the rails & the area that was rotten with new wood and added new screen where needed. We put a fresh coat of lacquer on the front door, painted the red screen door, painted the new wood & touched up spots that were worn and we put polyurethane on the floor.
It is crazy how many tools are needed for projects! So thankful that DJ knows how to use them!!
The weather was beautiful and we had fun working together putting some love into The Farm House.
I am posting before, during and after pictures .. I hope you enjoy them and will come be our guest sometime!!
