Ever cooked corn in the husk right over hot coals? It’s the easiest way to get sweet, juicy kernels with a little smoky magic.

Why it works:
- The husk traps steam, so it stays tender (and it’s harder to dry out)
- You get that camp-cooked flavor without a lot of fuss
- Peel-to-serve = built-in handle

Quick how-to (sweet, smoky, not burnt):
1) Pick tight, bright green husks + moist silk (heavier ears = juicier)
2) Cook over hot coals (no big flames), 10–15 min total, turn every 2–3 min
3) Rest 3–5 min, then peel back
4) Optional: quick char the bare corn 30–60 seconds for extra blister

Chili-lime butter (for ~6 ears):
4 Tbsp softened butter + 1–2 tsp chili powder + zest of 1 lime + 1–2 Tbsp lime juice + 1/2 tsp salt
Tip: add lime juice slowly (zest gives big flavor without watering it down).

This is the kind of easy RV cookout bite that pairs perfectly with an Emerald Coast day—especially when you’re staying at Panama City Beach RV Resort (gated and peaceful on Thomas Drive, with a heated pool, free basic WiFi, and complimentary Saturday breakfast year-round—plus St. Andrews State Park about 0.5 miles away and beach access within walking distance).

No-see-ums ruining your evenings? This 5-minute RV door setup makes a big difference.

They’re tiny enough to slip through gaps, they love humid dawn/dusk near water, and they’re drawn to cool/blue-white light. Use that to your advantage: tighten the barrier, control the “door open” moment, and move the light lure away from your entry.

1) Screen discipline (your 30-second “airlock” routine)
- Stage everything first (keys, leash, bags) so the door isn’t hanging open
- Turn off interior lights you can see from the doorway
- In/out with purpose (no doorway chatting or scrolling)
- Keep the screen door latched by default
- With two people: one moves, one holds the barrier

2) Close the tiny leak points
- If you see daylight under the door sweep, midges can slip in
- Check weatherstripping around the frame and screen-door edges for gaps/pinholes
- Make sure the screen actually snaps shut (clean/lube the track, add a stronger closer if it drifts)

3) Light placement = the secret sauce
- Swap porch lighting to warm/amber (2200K–2700K) instead of bright “daylight” LEDs
- Put your bright lantern 10–30 feet away from the RV door (ideally downwind) to pull bugs away
- Prime move: lights off for 20–60 seconds before opening the door

Bonus: run a small fan aimed across/out the doorway during busy bug hours—moving air makes it harder for them to hover in.

Quick checklist:
Before opening: lights off → fan on → everything staged
During: screen latched → quick in/out
After: doorway dim/warm → bright light moved away

Panama City Beach wasn’t always a bustling getaway—one bridge in 1929 helped change everything.

After the US 98 Hathaway Bridge opened across the west bay, it connected Panama City to the beach areas and helped spark early development of what we know and love today.

Fast forward to August 12, 1970: Panama City Beach was formally incorporated through the merger of four beachside communities—Edgewater, Panama City Beach, Long Beach, and West Panama City Beach. Now this Emerald Coast stretch runs 13 miles along the Gulf, with over 19,000 full-time residents and millions of visitors each year.

Want to experience the area’s story from a peaceful home base? Panama City Beach RV Resort is a gated, resort-style stay on the quieter east end of Thomas Drive—about 0.5 miles from St. Andrews State Park and within walking distance to beach access (Point #1). Set up on a concrete pad with full hookups (50/30 amp, water, sewer, cable), take a dip in our heated pool (open year-round), hop on free basic WiFi, and don’t miss complimentary Saturday breakfast—every week, all year long. Traveling with pets? You can bring up to 3 per site, plus we have a fenced dog park.

Panama City Beach is changing—did you hear Gulf World Marine Park’s 55-year chapter has ended?

In its final years, Gulf World operated under The Dolphin Company and faced serious animal welfare concerns. Reports note four dolphins died in the year before the company’s bankruptcy filing, and the facility was raided by U.S. law enforcement and wildlife officials over animal welfare violations. Company communications also acknowledged “years of neglect” tied to prior management.

On October 13, 2025, the property at 15400 and 15412 Front Beach Road was sold at auction to By The Sea Resorts, Inc. for $4.5 million in cash—and it’s expected to be redeveloped into a different business.

If you’re planning a trip and want to experience the best of PCB now, we always point guests toward the outdoors and the classics nearby—like St. Andrews State Park (about 0.5 miles from us) for beaches, snorkeling, fishing, and the boat shuttle to Shell Island, plus easy beach access within walking distance (Access Point #1) for those emerald-water mornings.

Before Pier Park nights and mega-theme parks, Panama City Beach had a homegrown classic: Miracle Strip Amusement Park.

From 1963 to 2015, Miracle Strip helped define the “golden age” of beach vacations here—52 years of vintage wooden coasters, classic midway rides, and family-friendly fun that generations still talk about. It wasn’t just a park; it was part of the soundtrack of summers on the Emerald Coast, powering local jobs and creating the kind of memories that get passed down at family reunions.

If Miracle Strip was part of your story, we want to hear it: what ride (or moment) do you miss most?

And if you’re planning a Panama City Beach getaway, stay with us at Panama City Beach RV Resort—then ask our team at check-in for a quick Miracle Strip “then vs. now” rundown and the best local spots to soak up that old-Florida nostalgia.

Stop burning dinner over flames—campfire cooking is coal cooking. Here’s the easiest no-gear two-zone setup (hot + warm) you’ll actually use.

1) Make coals first
Build your fire and let it burn 20–40 minutes until you’ve got glowing coals with a light gray ash (less flame, more control).

2) Rake into two zones (no tools needed)
Use a thick green branch like a rake:
- Hot zone: pull coals into a deep mound (about 2–4 inches) for searing/fast boils
- Warm zone: spread a thin “carpet” (about ½–1 inch) for finishing, melting, toasting, and holding warm

3) Check heat without a thermometer
Hold your palm at cooking height:
- 2 seconds = very hot (sear)
- 5–6 seconds = medium
- 7–8 seconds = low/warm

Pro move: keep a small “coal factory” fire off to the side and drag fresh coals over as you cook—heat control gets effortless.

Quick meal flow: sear on the hot side → slide to the warm side to finish → toast buns/veg on warm → hold everything warm while you cook the next batch.

Safety note: skip wet/river rocks (they can crack/pop), and always drown, stir, and feel the ashes cold before you leave.

Save this for your next coastal escape—and if you try the two-zone method during your stay at Panama City Beach RV Resort (peaceful, gated, and near St. Andrews State Park), tag Panama City Beach RV Resort so we can share your campfire win.

What’s the first thing you’d cook with hot + warm zones: burgers, foil-pack potatoes, or breakfast skillet?

What’s your best tip for keeping stabilizer jacks from sinking in sandy soil? Here’s why it happens—and the easiest fixes.

Sand gives way because the jack’s footpad concentrates a lot of weight on a tiny spot. The solution is almost always the same: spread the load + start on a firm base + don’t overwork the stabilizers.

Try this quick method:
1) Level with your tires first (blocks/ramps), then chock your wheels
2) Pack the sand where each pad will sit (a quick stomp helps—slightly damp sand compacts even better)
3) Put a wide “snowshoe” base under every stabilizer (HDPE pads, leveling blocks, or a 2x10/2x12 or 3/4" plywood square)
4) Lower stabilizers until snug—don’t lift (stabilizers stabilize)
5) Recheck after 30–60 minutes and again the next morning as the sand settles

If it’s extra soft, build a “pad sandwich”:
Large board on the bottom + rigid pad/block on top + jack foot on top of that.

Beachside setups are part of the Emerald Coast adventure—and at Panama City Beach RV Resort (gated, peaceful, and just a short hop from St. Andrews State Park), we’re always swapping smart RV hacks.

Stop sacrificing veggies to the grill gods 🔥🥦 Here are 3 foolproof ways to keep them on the grates (and get better char, too):

1) Cut bigger (the easiest fix)
If it can slip between the grate gaps, it will.
• Zucchini/eggplant: slice into ½-inch planks
• Onions: thick rings or “steaks” (keep the root end attached)
• Peppers: big flat panels

2) Turn them perpendicular
Lay long veggies (asparagus, green onions, carrot sticks) across the grates, not parallel. Bonus: rotate 45–90° halfway through for those crosshatch marks.

3) Basket or skewers when you’re cooking the “escape artists”
• Grill basket: perfect for mushrooms, green beans, Brussels sprout halves, chopped fajita mixes
Tip: preheat the basket + don’t overcrowd + toss every 2–3 minutes for real browning
• Double-skewer trick: thread two skewers through slices so nothing spins (or falls) when you flip

Grill-night question: Team Basket, Team Skewers, or Team Thick-Cut? Drop your pick below—and save this for your next cookout at Panama City Beach RV Resort.
