🌌✨ Heads up, skywatchers! A Planet Parade is coming on February 28, 2026! ✨🌌

On the evening of February 28, 2026, several planets will line up across the night sky in what astronomers call a planetary alignment. While they won’t form a perfectly straight line like beads on a cosmic necklace, they’ll appear grouped along the same path of the sky known as the ecliptic. Think of it as the solar system’s main highway. 🚀

Here’s what you can expect to see:

🔭 Visible to the naked eye (weather permitting):

Venus – bright and hard to miss
Mars – glowing with its reddish tint
Jupiter – shining steadily

🔎 Best viewed with binoculars or a small telescope:

Saturn
Uranus** (faint but there!)

🌅 When to look:** Shortly after sunset. Find a spot with a clear view of the western horizon and minimal city lights. The darker the sky, the better the show.

🌎 Why it happens:** All the planets orbit the Sun on roughly the same flat plane. From Earth, that makes them appear to line up from time to time. It’s less of a rare “once in a lifetime” event and more of a beautifully timed cosmic coincidence.

📸 Pro tip: Use a stargazing app to help identify each planet, and give your eyes about 20 minutes to adjust to the dark.

Here come the hummingbirds! Generally speaking, it’s March 1-15 for the southern half of Alabama, March 15-30 for north Alabama.

Here are some extra tips for feeding these birds:

* The ideal food is 4 parts tap water, 1 part refined white sugar. Other sugars can harm the birds.

* There’s no need to dye the sugar red. Natural nectar is clear, plus the red dye chemicals aren’t great for the birds.

* Clean your feeder every two to three days with hot water and a little vinegar. This helps prevent mold and disease transmission.
