Olmsted is a Christian retreat center surrounded by the Allegheny National Forest. Hickman Hall provides a larger meeting space.

Located in northwestern Pennsylvania, we are on PA Route 6 in the small village of Ludlow. Our facilities include guest accommodations in the original 1918 Manorhouse, the Carriage House, and the newer accessible Groves Lodge. We are surrounded by the Allegheny National Forest and our properties include landscaped grounds as well as wooded trails.

The sacred rhythm of winter: stillness and movement, existing side-by-side.

The woods rest, while the water continues its work.

As the current storm has reminded us (whether we like it or not!), sometimes the best thing for our souls is to simply stop thrashing against the current and match the rhythm of the season. There is deep work happening in the quiet and the rest.

Come find your rhythm at Olmsted.

Though she's best known for "In the Bleak Midwinter," Christina Rossetti wrote a number of poems that movingly capture the spirit of the Advent season.

This poem, "Advent Sunday," ends with that most beautiful invitation from Song of Songs: "Arise, My love, My fair one, come away."

Advent is a season that calls us to step away from the noise and "hold Him fast" as we await the coming of Jesus. If your spirit is feeling wearied this winter, make space for the stillness that comes before the sunrise.

Take some time this day to wait on God in quiet hope. And, as always, you are invited to come away and watch for the daybreak with us.

"Come away."

That is the invitation offered to everyone who steps onto the sacred grounds of Olmsted Manor. Step out of the rush of everyday life, and into a set-apart time in the presence of God. That's our ministry.

This Giving Tuesday, your donation will help us maintain this special place—a true sanctuary for renewal, Christian hospitality, and spiritual growth amidst breathtaking beauty.

Help us ensure that when people need a moment to come away, Olmsted Manor is ready to welcome them. Every gift supports the peace and tranquility that makes Olmsted such a blessing. Please consider whether you might set up a recurring gift, and invite those for whom Olmsted Manor has been a treasured place to join you in it!
