Friendly reminder! The entire length of Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park will have free admission this coming Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

It should be a great day for a drive, hike, waterfall trip, or picnic at one of the park campgrounds with comfortable late-May weather expected.

Each year, members of the Shenandoah Youth Crew have a unique summer job. Instead of babysitting, they spend a month without Wi-Fi or air conditioning. While the grass at home grows long, they work and sleep outdoors in a national park.

Shenandoah Youth Corps invites 16- to 18-year-olds to apply for crew member positions. This dynamic four-week program offers a chance to earn money, develop career skills and contribute meaningfully to conservation efforts in Shenandoah National Park. Participants gain valuable experience by working with and learning from experienced crew leaders and National Park Service staff on various projects, including:

Trail maintenance
Vegetation management
Facilities upkeep
Community science
And much more!

Prior outdoor or camping experience helps but is not necessary to participate. Crew members must show eagerness to learn, a strong work ethic and readiness to tackle challenges as a cohesive team.
