OK, We're 3 weeks away, and people are calling, emailing and messaging us every day. So far, people from 19 states have confirmed that they are coming to Coyote Days! There is still a few rooms available at the Town House Motel (307)334-2376 in Lusk, and I know people have booked at the Harrison House motel in Harrison, Nebraska, too (308)665-5199

One of the questions/requests that we have had is if we are selling banquet tickets in advance... No, we aren't

They will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, starting at 11 a.m., Friday, inside the building. I've personally reserved 40 for demo people and a few people helping, and we've put a 'cap' of 225 total, so roughly 185 tickets will be sold.

We have no intentions of excluding people or making anyone mad, BUT we are doing it all with friends that have volunteered, and we have such a full day(s) planned already.

Coming up fast!! August 9-10th!

Well, Coyote Days is about a month away now, and I've been told some of the motels in the area are already filled up that weekend, (lot's of people coming) so I'm going to list a few more close by the fairgrounds too. That weekend (August 9 -10) is the tail end of the Sturgis Bike Rally, so there will be biker traffic coming back through the area, and availability of motel rooms could get tight.

The interest in Coyote Days has been literally off of the charts, and, even though there will be a huge gathering at the camping portion of the fairgrounds too, some of you still planning on coming will be needing rooms.

What I'm saying is: DON'T wait until the last minute!

Townhouse Hotel (307) 334-2376
Covered Wagon Hotel (307) 334-2836

Another alternative, especially for the folks coming from the east, is to stay in Harrison, Nebraska. It's only 30 miles away, on good highway. It would be no problem to get up a half hour earlier and make it over by 7 a.m.

Harrison House Hotel (308 )665-5199

We've had people from at least a dozen states confirm that they are coming, it's going to be one for the books. Come see history in the making, and visit with old friends and make new ones!

OK, It's a rainy Sunday morning, so I thought I'd better sit down and post the demo list for 'Coyote Days'. Bear in mind, there might be a change or two, and I DON'T have the exact order of when these demos will be. I simply pick them out of a hat, and will do that in a month or so. Some of these guys are coming a fairly long distance, and I'm planning around their schedules too. ALL are friends of mine, that I KNOW produce, AND do what they say they do, and ARE what they say they are. It's the 'dream team' of demos, in my opinion.

DEMOS- Coyote Days, Lusk Wyoming Aug 9-10 2019

Les Johnson- NE Coyote Calling
Les doesn't need any introduction in the coyote world, and he is about to launch another season of Predator Quest on TV. He is the real deal, and we've called together several times over the years. Les will have a booth, offering his line of calls and other PQ items.

Keith Gregerson- MT Snaring
Keith is another legend in the trapping world, and a close friend of my family's His demo and presentation is one that is truly one of a kind. He was one of the people that modernized snaring, and coming from a background of government trapping experience from the 'Old Days', his insight to coyotes is 2nd to none.

Jim Arneson- MT Coyote Calling and decoy dogs
Jim is from Eastern Montana, and has been a friend of ours for years. We stay in close contact, and I can tell you that Jim is out doing it, all year long. He'll be bringing his dogs with him, and his demo will be a very animated and informative one for sure! A great wealth of information, that he is willing to share.

Terry Thompson- MT Snaring
Terry is a long-line snareman from Northern Montana, that racks up large numbers of coyotes every year, in some of the toughest conditions. I expect his demo to have some interesting tips and insight to catching coyotes in harsh conditions.

Evan Anderson- SD Trapping/Snaring
Evan is as hard working as anyone I know, and produces a pile of fur every year. He long lines in 2 states every year, and his method system is a no fluff, hit the ground running type. It will be his first demo ever, and has agreed to come to Wyoming to share some of his thoughts on production coyote harvesting.

Otis Latham- Co. Coyote Handling
Otis and I go way back too, and he agreed to come to Lusk and share some of his knowledge on producing quality coyotes. He is an agent for the Colorado Trappers Association Auction, and his insight to the modern coyote market is unmatched. I've kept several 'green' coyote pelts in the freezer just for his demo.

Todd Fairchild- Co. Coyote Handling
Todd is a master fur handler, and also an agent for the Colorado Auction. He will be doing a demo with Otis, on handling coyotes to make them look their best. Todd also builds great fur drums, and we'll use one to drum up some coyotes, as you watch. A GREAT opportunity.

Joel Blakeslee- NV. 'Cat Trapping
Joel is truly one of a kind, and a great leader in the Western trapping world. His knowledge ranges from coyote trapping to 'cat harvesting to politics, and he could probably give a top-notch talk on just about anything related to trapping, but I love his 'cat demo, and that is what he is scheduled to do in August.

Bill Ilchick- NV. 'Cat Trapping
Bill is a legend in the trapping world, and has a great mind and memory. Like, all the demo presenters at 'Coyote Days', Bill is a good friend of mine. He was one of the people that truly knew Wiley Carroll, in the old days, and his 'Wiley Stories' are a real treat. I've asked Bil to come to Wyoming again, and he'll be doing a duo demo with Joel on 'cats. Its the best of the best, and one that has helped a pile of people over the years.

Roc Lee- MT Coyote Snaring
Roc is coming down from central Montana to do his first ever demo. Roc and I shared a mutual friendship with John Vaia, also from Montana. John was scheduled to do a demo at this event, and we were all looking forward to it. When John passed away unexpectedly this past winter, after giving it some thought, I asked Roc to do a demo in his honor. Roc agreed, thankfully. He probably had the biggest fur catch in the state this year, and his demo will be one to watch for sure.

Jim Halseth- MT Coyote trapping
Jim and I first met in 1983. We've attended a lot of the same conventions over the years, and even gave a demo or two together. He hasn't gave a demo for a few years, and, like me, hasn't gone to very many conventions for awhile. 'Jimmy Jay' has agreed to venture down to Wyoming to this event, and give a demo on coyotes. Jim produces some of the largest catches in the West most years, and his mind is always on fur trapping, and ways to catch even more, next year. We've had some very inspirational conversations over the years, and I'm looking forward to seeing him again. Jim will be bringing some of his products to sell too.

J.D. Arneson- MT Long Range Shooting.
J.D. Is one of the best long range shooters that I personally know. He knowledge and passion for it is 2nd to none, and he applies it to calling coyotes throughout the year, in Eastern Montana. If I'm not too busy, that is the demo that I'm going to sit and watch. There is a lot of new technology out there, and he knows it all.

Boone Liane- MT Trapping/ Snaring
Boone is a North Dakota native that currently resides in SE Montana. His knowledge of coyotes, and coyote harvesting is extensive, and he puts it to use every year, in a big way. Boone takes it serious, and his demo will be time-tested methods too. I was fortunate to get him to agree to come this year too.

Major Boddicker- CO Coyotes
Major is another legend in the coyote world. His calls and methods are used by thousands of people every year. To be able to tap into some of his knowledge is truly a treat. I always look forward to our visits, and we're glad to include him as part of this line up too.

There will be a few more added!

Possibly a round table discussion, Friday evening, which I am putting together now. STAY TUNED!

06/18/2019

OK, We are just about to post the list of demos for 'Coyote Days'... I promise that it will be a line-up like no other. 14 demos in all, with 4 being on Friday, August 9th, and 10 (yes, ten) being on Saturday, August 10th. We are getting some inquiries that I thought I'd answer first, to hopefully put some people's mind at ease, and make the trip to Lusk, Wyoming in August an eventful one for anyone interested.

First, we are charging $5 entry fee for anyone 18 and over, for the weekend. I'm not charging the dealers I've invited to attend for any booth space, and I'm buying motel rooms for most of the demo givers, and buying them banquet tickets. That is the least I can do for these guys, as some are coming a long way, and most aren't selling anything. Every single demo is worth a LOT more than $5, and there will be at least 14!

Camping has been a big topic, and YES, there is camping on the fairgrounds. Camper hook-ups (water & electricity) is limited, about 11 spaces, on a first come, first serve basis. It is $25/ night, and paid directly to the fairgrounds. There is plenty of other spots for those of you that don't require a hook up.

Tent camping is $5/night, and there is basically unlimited space. There are bathrooms and showers right there too. A lot of grass, although close to the highway, but everyone will be tired from a full day, so the traffic probably won't bother you. That fee will be paid directly to the fairgrounds also.

NO open fires though.

Motels are going to fill up fast, so I suggest calling as soon as you can;

Trail Motel (307) 334-2530
Rawhide Motel (307) 334-2440

And, since that weekend is also the tail end of the Sturgis bike rally and motels could get tight, I also contacted the Harrison House Hotel in Harrison, Nebraska, (30 Miles away)

They will be a good alternative, and it is an easy 25 minute drive over to Lusk. Their number is ; (308) 665-5199

As for food, yes, we will have Hamburgers on the grill on Friday, and drinks, etc.

We will probably cook until 6 pm or so, on Friday evening.

There is also some great places to eat in Lusk, and most are a minute or two away.

We will have breakfast, lunch and snacks available all day, right on the grounds, in the convention building.

Saturday Night, we will have a banquet, with raffles, a guest speaker or two, and a Fur Fashion Show.

We've been making plans for this for months now, a little at a time, and it is quickly approaching!

The interest for Coyote Days has been huge, and I'm planning on making it a yearly event.

Come be part of history in the making, with some of the best Coyote and 'Cat trappers alive today. There will be a bunch of them here!
