Hello from the Parks Guesthouse in Lynchburg, TN!!! So many of you have commented on the Parks Guesthouse page about our mother show-casing her talent of raising beautiful flowers. One in particular was very special to her as she often had visitors she did not know stopping by just to see her flowers!
Our hopes were to have a few plants out by Mother’s Day, but weather conditions permitted that from happening. From daddy sitting in the swing, mama in her rocking chair and flowers from one end of the porch to the other, we knew we had to start somewhere and bring life to our front porch.
Peggy Horton purchased mandevillas and was determined to try and capture “somewhat” the look on our front porch as our mother did with that beautiful plant strung on a vine across the entire porch. Mama and Daddy looked so forward to spring every year to show-off this plant. Knowing we could not live up to our mother’s expectations, we decided to make an attempt at showing off this vine that generally grows ten feet in the first season. We were all excited when Peggy brought the mandevillas to our Guesthouse. Little did she know that all mandevillas do not climb and, of course, she accidentally bought the ones that do not climb; nevertheless, they are beautiful. Don’t you agree?
Love this picture of our beautiful mother that we continue to honor daily by using the mandevilla as our logo for the Parks Guesthouse. Thank you Peggy for making our mother proud!!! The flowers may not cover the entire porch but they were planted with “LOVE”!!!
