Are you more of a TENNIS purist or PICKLEBALL fanatic? 4 years ago I was in the Central Virginia region playing pickleball with some friends on a tennis court marked for both. A few of the tennis players that later arrived made it clear we weren’t welcomed on the courts.

Fast-forward 4 years…

I was with my kids last week playing pickleball in Forest, Virginia on Tennis courts(marked for both). Everyone else on the other Tennis courts were very warm and welcoming.

I mention this because I became intrigued at a young age by the evolution of a new sport and its acceptance or refusal into our society. I first experienced this during my youth at a small rural Highschool in the Shenandoah Valley. When soccer was added as a Varsity sport and the Football team shared facilities with Soccer. When the goalie joined the Football team as our Kicker/punter (he had a cannon for a leg)the attitude toward soccer quickly changed 😂🤣. We now see events like the FIFA world cup drawing millions of fans and many forget how soccer had to endure some of those same hardships we’ve seen with Pickleball over the past decade.
