The Inn at Lynden Historic hospitality in comfort and style. The Inn at Lynden makes its home in the historic Waples Mercantile Building, formerly the Lynden Department Store. Mr.

For nearly a century, The Lynden Department Store was the gathering place, and the market place, of the Lynden farming community. The store was owned and built by Billy Waples, one of the original founding fathers of Lynden. Waples was instrumental in bringing the railroad, power and light and the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds to Lynden. His contributions to the history of Lynden, along with the significance of this iconic building, have attracted the attention of the National Park Service. They have deemed the building worthy of inclusion onto the National Registry of Historic Places, where it now resides with similar landmark structures across the United States. And, now you can reside there, in comfort and style, while enjoying truly historic hospitality.

Our walls have something new to say.

We’re delighted to welcome the work of Mary Youngblood to the Inn as our newest featured artist, in partnership with the Jansen Art Center.

Mary’s colorful, whimsical paintings are inspired by memories, places, books, history, and moments from her own life. Rather than carefully planning each piece, she enjoys discovering where a painting will take her, creating work that tells a story and, in her words, brings “contemplative joy” to the viewer.

Next time you’re at the Inn, take a few moments to wander through our lobby and public spaces and enjoy Mary’s work up close.

Join us for an interactive lecture concert with local artisan and engineer Chet Noll, who will introduce the harpsichord he spent 45 years building.

The harpsichord, along with a clavichord and pianoforte, was featured in the Jansen Art Center’s 2026 Winter Exhibition.

For the first time in Lynden, Chet will also introduce “Music In Metal” wire sculptures inspired by musical phrases.

The Lynden Music Festival kicks off this week, bringing five days of live music to venues throughout Lynden from October 7 through 11.

And we’re especially excited to be part of the music! Join us this Wednesday at 2:30pm in Rübus Events + Gatherings for an Interactive Lecture Concert featuring Chet Noll on the harpsichord. Experience this beautiful and unique instrument up close while enjoying an afternoon of music, history, and discovery.

With performances happening throughout town all week, it’s a wonderful time to experience Lynden and enjoy a stay at the Inn.

This Could Be Kinda Sketchy.

The Whatcom Artist Studio Tour returns October 3–4 and 10–11, inviting visitors inside the working studios of artists throughout Whatcom County.

Now in its 32nd year, this self-guided tour is a chance to meet local artists, see where and how they create, discover work in a wide variety of mediums, and maybe even take home an original piece.

Pair the tour with a stay at the Inn and turn a day of art and inspiration into a fall weekend exploring Lynden and the surrounding area.

The Lynden Lions Club Model Train & Toy Show rolls into the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds October 3–4. Explore model train and toy layouts, exhibits, vendors, and plenty of railroad fun for enthusiasts of all ages.

And with the fairgrounds just about a mile from the Inn, we’re a pretty convenient home base for a weekend of train spotting.

Saturday, October 3: 9 am–5 pm

Join us for an evening of beautiful Baroque music at RĂĽbus at The Inn at Lynden featuring the Nova Antiqua Players.

Back by popular demand, Nova Antiqua Players will take you on a musical journey into old France with Jean-Philippe Rameau’s "Les Indes Galantes"
