Camp Cascade Update

Due to the nature of where Camp Cascade is located, there has been a great deal of misinformation being shared regarding what’s happening in the canyon/towns in our area.

Here’s what we do know, so far:

🔥 Firefighters evacuated the north fork canyon early on, due to the other fires growing in our neighboring towns. Very little “official” information has been extended, due to this reality.

🔥Power lines are down, along the main roads going in + out of where camp is located.

🔥 Some homes neighboring us, have been officially verified as safe. Others in the area have lost their homes to the fires.

🔥The fires did make it to our surrounding areas, yet it is unknown what damage has been done.

As soon as we are able we hope to make a return to camp, so we can give an accurate account of what’s happened onsite.

In the meantime, we are SO grateful for your prayers & provisions extended to us!!

Keep praying for our local firefighters, serving our communities so well. For our neighboring communities who have experienced great loss, and continued protection over this land many have called home for a weekend, summer, and seasonally.

Camp Cascade, friends + family we ask for your prayers today.

As many of you may know there are aggressive fires neighboring the Cascade Mountains right now.

On August 16, 2020 the Beachie Creek fire began in the heart of the Opal Creek Wilderness.

Over that time we went from a potential basecamp for fire crews, to a potential community evacuation location, and just yesterday were given a level 2 evacuation warning (late last night we went to level 3). We are now on mandatory evacuation, and the situation is rapidly changing.

We are so grateful to Rolling Hills Baptist Church, for their moments notice generosity in opening up their homes to our staff as we evacuated them.

Pray for our neighbors in the Elkhorn Canyon, and those that call Camp Cascade home. Prayer for the fire fighters risking much to fight these wildfires surrounding this area.

This December, we as Cascade Staff went up into the mountains in search for the perfect Christmas tree(s)! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The beginning of our spring camp season has been surprisingly full! In past years it has been considered a time of rest and preparation for the upcoming season. The year of 2019 thus far has been full of adventures from power outages to obviously lots of snow that covered the face of camp for over a month.
To launch our season we were so grateful to host an amazing team of outdoor educators here for a week! Where
outdoor school extension brought together leaders of outdoor school programs from across Oregon. They were given a week of professional training, community building, discussions, and times of reflection together. We loved having the opportunity to welcome these incredible educators and providers to Camp Cascade. A place where they were able to simply disconnect to intentionally learn, connect, rest, and even enjoy a couple snowball fights together!
