Deep Sea Adventure is perfect gateway game. Easy to learn and little down time, it doesn’t take long for the flaws of humanity to emerge. As soon as players figure out what is going on they will immediately start taking treasures for themselves while disregarding everyone’s safety. It’s a 100% hit and a lot of fun. Every. Time.

Got in a two player game of Philosophia this weekend. It’s kind of a guilty pleasure for me to play this one. It’s opulent philosopher bust miniatures and classy game board with wooden school buildings masks a pretty tense game where you have 13 possible actions on your turn but can only take one of them. So much to do with so little time. Stressful and fun! Our two player match took exactly one hour. Look for Playthrough videos on YouTube .

Got to try AXIO yesterday (two players). Obviously similar to Qwirkle (and vice versa) but the scoring and pyramid placement as well as an actual board give it a much better strategic feel rather than a rummy/domino vibe. Needless to say I cannot wait to play again. Love me Knizia, I do. -

Finally got to take the Ark Nova plunge last night and I can understand the love for this game. It is a “beast” ( ) of an experience. Many crunchy choices to be made at every moment. I look forward to tangling with it again soon.
