Today marked 18 months since Hurricane 🌀 Helene made landfall and changed our little piece of paradise ⛱️ . It brought 6-8 feet of storm surge and then 13 days later, Hurricane 🌀 Milton arrived and finished what Helene started with historic rainfall (it qualified as a 1 in 1,000- year rainfall event) and over 100 mph destructive winds. There have many, many challenging days, filled with stress 🫩, uncertainty 🤔, anxiety😰 and feeling overwhelmed 😩. We have fought, pushed, climbed, restructured, pivoted and questioned our abilities. We have learned patience, resilience, adaptability, and optimism. We sincerely appreciate all of our guests that have checked in periodically, gave us words of encouragement and sent prayers and positive thoughts along the long road. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the difficult times. Many of you have trusted us with your vacations for many, many years. THANK YOU! ❤️ We are finally so EXCITED ☺️ to announce that we will be accepting guests starting April 15th, 2026. Although Madeira Vista will not be 100%, we are hopeful to have beach access, the pool open, most of the deck completed and be at a point to offer our guests a return to their favorite vacation spot. Many of our owners have completed minor to major remodels and they are eager to host guests after these long 18 months of being closed. *Please note, we are currently only accepting reservations up to May 23rd as summer rates have not been set yet. We will have them posted soon and we will then open reservations for June & July. We are easing into filling the calendar as it would be overwhelming filling 25 condos for 12 months, so please check our homepage of our web site often for updates. Looking forward to hosting you for the beautiful sunsets 🌅, dolphin 🐬 sightings and relaxing ⛱️ vacations‼️

Update 10/14: Hurricane Milton seems to have came along and finished what Helene started. Helene was mostly storm surge damage & Milton was rain and wind. Madeira Vista lost power again and 2 carports. The boil water notice was lifted this morning. I have power, but no cable or internet, so I apologize I havent been able to respond to emails. My computer is still disassembled as I took it with me when I evacuated. I returned home to water in my house, both sheds, and up to the seats in my 2nd car. My roof is missing a LOT of shingles, leaking in 2 places, missing sections of fence and a patio roof completely ripped off. I've spent 3 days pulling wet stuff out of the house and garage and having drywall removed tomorrow in wet rooms. I'm still grateful because I know it could have been so much worse. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and showed concern, it has really meant so much. ❤️ I'm counting the days to get back to a somewhat normal schedule & a normal daily routine. It's been a really tough 2 1/2 weeks but anxious to progress forward and get through it. I'll post updates on the cleanup progress at MV as we move forward.

Quick update: Hurricane is passing, but moving slow, it's been rough! Reported 16 inches of rain at my house (inland from Madeira about 15 minutes). Wind gusts of at least 101 mph. The good news is the storm surge has NOT happened for the beaches. It had a reverse surge where it actually sucked the water from the Bay and the Gulf! When it comes back in, it should be okay. 19 confirmed tornadoes touched down south of us. The linemen and first responders are housed at Tropicana Field in downtown St.Pete. and the roof blew off (pic below). The main water line broke in St.Pete. and they have shut off all of the water until further notice. They can not repair until tomorrow when it's safe. I'm staying put where it's safe and we have electricity and water (knock on wood). The roads the next couple of days will be impossible to travel due to damage & the # of people that evacuated. Praying daylight brings a better outcome than expected.

10/7 update: We finally got electricity back at Madeira Vista yesterday and we've evacuated today for Milton. Tonight we go to sleep in a strange, unfamiliar, hopefully safe place, praying for our homes, our beaches, Madeira Vista and our entire area. Packing my home of what I could fit in my SUV today was the worst feeling I've ever had in my whole life. Taking that one last look, pulling out of the driveway with my mind racing of what else could I have done, was absolutely gut wrenching. Praying for this storm to spare my family, my Madeira Vista families and the areas that will undoubtedly have catastrophic devastation. I've lived here almost my entire life and I've never felt the fear I feel tonight. I've never experienced 3 flood zones all evacuated at the same time. We will continue to pray and hope for a shift of the eye to keep us out of the direct path. I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank all of our great customers who have reached out, sending thoughts and prayers our way. Thank you & I'll keep everyone updated when I can. Penny

Hurricane Helene Update:
Everyone is safe which is the most important of all!
Access to the beach is still unavailable due to debris and road conditions. Madeira Vista had excessive water damage on the ground floor and pool area due to the incredible storm surge. We will post some photos soon.
Many of us are without power and our communication is limited.
If you have upcoming reservations, we will be reaching out, in chronological calendar order of bookings to all customers as soon as humanly possible. Please be patient. If you are booked in December, you are behind everyone in October & November.
One person and hundreds of reservations is a near impossible task and may take weeks.
We need to get a plan in place to help with timeframes & how far out we will have to do cancellations.
Calls or emails may not be answered in a timely manner.
We will get to everyone, we just ask for time and patience please.
Our guests are family and we are devastated for our owners, guests & our Madeira Vista families.

So many people did not evacuate and now need help to get to safety. First responders are not capable of helping. Lots of fires, assuming due to water intrusion/electrical. A million thoughts and worries. We will wait for daylight & pray for the water to recede quickly to put a plan in place. 🙏🏻

Morning will bring a different view for our area. Storm surge is still rising, high tide is at 12:30 a.m. These Madeira Vista pictures were taken a lot earlier today. Treasure Island more recent. We have a LOT of damage and will have to wait until daylight & wait for water to receed. I won't give specifics yet, but I am blown away with what this hurricane has been capable of. Please give us time to assess, get our personal homes taken care of too and I will communicate to our guests as soon I can. I know everyone is concerned about upcoming trips, questions, etc. , but the next few days will be like no other. We are all currently safe, which is most important. Say an extra prayer for the cities north where this storm is headed, I can NOT imagine a direct hit with this monster.
