Louis, the inn was originally built as a hotel and saloon in 1884 by George Jacob and Sibilla Hoffmann. After the turn of the century, the hotel became a residence and the saloon found new life as the village general store. In 1989, after nearly 18 months of restoration, David and Marcia Braswell repoened the former hotel as a bed & breakfast. The inn is located in the 160 year old German settleme

nt of Maeystown, one of just a handful of Illinois towns located on the National Register of Historic Places in its entirety. Some 60 stone, wooden, and brick structures remain from the 1800's. Today the bed and breakfast, along with the 1867 church and numerous buildings, have been fully restored. The one lane 1881 stone arched bridge leading into town stands as the centerpiece of the village.

On Tuesdays at 8PM, experience a touch of true Americana when the Waterloo Municipal Band begins to play on the Monroe County courthouse lawn.

From the first Tuesday after Memorial Day to the last Tuesday in August, the Municipal Band performs a free concert for every music lover, with genres ranging from polka to rock 'n roll. The Band also performs for various holidays and events to keep you entertained all summer long.
