The Homestead, 1912

The Homestead, 1912 Our historic vacation rental is a unique escape from unexceptional mountain cabins. Click our website You’re invited to be among the first of our new friends.

Blessed by its years, this Historic Homestead retains her glamour from 1912, while providing all the modern comforts of 2020. While we are an old, charming house, we are a new vacation home, And while we are new to North Carolina’s mountains, we celebrate years of hosting guests. From 2006-18, our Casa Tranquila, on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, welcomed, guided and entertained over 2

000 new, (and now) long-lasting friends from around the globe. We are so excited about our new beginning here in the Smoky Mountains. The address confirms the home was built on the "timberline" that brought logs by flue and river from the mountains. All its original wood for construction was milled right in the back yard. The relic foundation for the waterwheel still sits on the stream right outside your window. Throughout, you'll enjoy authentic hardwood floors, walnut ship lap door casings and rough cut cedar walls that still reveal the mill's saw marks. Add the claw foot bathtub, old-school, windows with counterweights and ropes, antique bronze door knobs and 2-inch plank ceilings . . .and you'll feel like Greta Garbo might visit any minute. There's even a century-old creak in the stairway. Have faith, though. You will not want for today's amities. Chef's kitchen complete with six-burner gas stove, side-by-side fridge and dishwasher. Smart TV's. Convenient mini-split air system offers warm or cold with a touch. Apple routers provide strong wi-fi in every room. Walk-in showers rival even the finest spa. While your upward mountain views are sensational, you are indeed in the "valley" of Maggie Valley. Truly, you can walk to eight of our best restaurants within 15 minutes. Shopping, street events, crafts fairs, parks, greenways, nature trails, museums are all along Soco Road . . .only 100 yards away. The Home: Every suite has a private balcony; Tin roof (for great sleeping when it rains); Large detached apartment suite for your seventh and eighth guests; Cozy solarium for conversation, cocktails, cards; Soft-flowing stream to lull you to sleep at night. We added an extra convenience especially for your outdoor dining pleasure: a huge octagonal deck next to the stream. A natural canopy of trees serves as your shade, complete with a grill and lights for nighttime dinners. Bring your bamboo fishing rod to drop into the stream while your steaks are grilling. We've thought of everything. Send an inquiry, and you and your family will be in the best of hands.

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS . . .and Girls
Heather and John brought their five kids over from Oak Ridge (between Greensboro & Winston-Salem) for an Independence Day Celebration at The Homestead, 1912 last week. They loved being here so much, they're coming back THIS Sunday for a "do-over". While we have many return guests, this is a new record for "Quickest Return".

They were such a great family, enjoying 4th of July fireworks from The Homestead's balcony as well as day trips to Cherokee. We're thrilled to be their new Home in the Mountains.

And they are the first guests to use their Homestead Sta$h Points for a free night on their return stay. You can learn more about our Loyalty Program on the link to our website, below

Thanks, John & Heather for giving us such a great week. We hope to see you many times in the future.

ESCAPING THE SCORCH
The Homestead is so cool here in the mountains while nationwide temperatures are in/near triple digit range. Though we are considered in "The South", our 3000 foot above sea level elevation keeps us cools and comfortable. Our guests have not even started to use the ACs yet!!

I'm sending you our calendar openings below . . .or you can go to https://www.thehomestead1912.com/book-now/.

Last week, The Homestead was honored to have our first Slingshot rally guests. Our Maggie Valley Area is accustomed to bikers of all types, and The Homestead has frequently welcomed traditional cyclists . . .but this time was special. Robb and his family and friends from central NC brought FOUR of the coolest three-wheeler cycles for a week of tooling around The Smokies. They told us they come every year and try to stay someplace DIFFERENT every time. Now, after a week at The Homestead, they said they never want to stay anyplace else.

We're looking forward to seeing them again!!

BRINGING IN 2023
Our Florida guests who come up to experience winter weather at The Homestead usually get what they are hoping for. Shanna and her kids (and grandkids) perhaps got even MORE than they thought. We experience some of the coldest temps in 30 years in Maggie Valley over Christmas & New Year's. But they wrapped up tight and braved the frozen tundra anyway to welcome in 2023. They were wonderful, gracious friends, who, despite a couple of hiccups, had a wonderful week here at The Homestead, 1912. We hope to see them back again very soon.

Elaine and her family of Santas drove all the way from Indiana to be at The Homestead for Christmas. Their week included four of the coldest days on record since 1974 in Maggie Valley. Nearly everything in Haywood County was frozen . . .including our stream. But it was Christmas, and they made their way through the cold! Thanks so much, Elaine, for being our valued (and patient) guests!! We love the family pic around The Homestead Christmas Tree!! We hope to have you back again soon . . .in the summer!! SECOND TIME AROUND

We always love when our Homestead Heroes come back for a repeat visit . . .especially wonderful families like Alisha & Darrell . . .Jordan, Joshua and Hannah. When they came in May, it was to celebrate Hannah's 18th birthday. This time, the birthday cookies went to Alisha . . .Mom, herself. We always feel like we're doing something right when our Friends return to The Homestead. Zoe, Zena & Zak are, their support pups, are so special that we always welcome all three.

Thanks so much Guys! We'll see you again in 2023!
