We are located in a gorgeous setting and would love to have you visit this beautiful place we call home. We are located just outside the town of Mammoth Lakes, CA overlooking Long Valley, the Glass Mountains and the White Mountain ranges. We are backed up to McGee Mtn and the Eastern Sierra. We are at 7,000 feet in elevation. We have 55 sites, a combination of FHU, W/E and Dry RV and tent camping

sites. McGee Creek runs right through the park and we have pay to fish trout ponds on site. We enjoy beautiful summer weather and nice cool evenings. The area is an outdoor paradise with hiking, fishing, kayaking, off-roading, horse back riding, skiiing and much more. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Good news post fire update!

Thank you for all of your emails, calls, public comments that you sent into the county and the state, I truly believe all the pressure we put on them is the only reason they said yes.

The state approved a reimbursement program for the county to run a cleanup program and the county agreed to do it! Ive been waiting to post hoping I would have some concrete dates soon but I currently dont. We were told today that "cleanup should begin in the coming weeks". While vague on timing I do believe they are trying to do it sooner rather than later.

I will keep everyone posted as this comes around. We are still thinking June/July opening this summer.

Thank you again to everyone that reached out! We are very much looking forward to moving forward! *Not a current photo but its one of my favorites!

Email being sent out! We need your comments to be sent to the board ASAP. Please read below and thank you for your patience as we navigate this. The snow is melting fast. Photo is current.

Hello Campers,

We are still waiting on the County to vote on the debris cleanup. They now have a debris removal quote and insurance coverage information. There is a significant gap and therefore the county approving to fund the cleanup is the best and easiest way forward for not only us, but the whole community.

If you would like to, please copy and paste the email below and send to the board before their meeting tomorrow, Tuesday 3/3 @ 10am. We are the last line on the agenda. We weren't notified, hence the last minute email.

Subject: Strong Support for Pack Fire County Funded Debris Removal

Body:
Dear Members of the Mono County Board of Supervisors,

I am a visitor to Mono County/McGee Creek who travels here to enjoy the area’s extraordinary natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and local community. Like many tourists, I contribute directly to the County’s economy through lodging, dining, shopping, and recreation.

I am writing to strongly urge you to approve the debris cleanup removal. This effort is critical on multiple fronts:

Economic Impact: Tourism is a cornerstone of Mono County’s economy. Clean, well-maintained public spaces attract visitors, support local businesses, and help sustain the County’s tax base. Failing to approve this cleanup could lead to significant losses in Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) revenue, threatening funding for essential services and the overall economic health of the community.

Environmental Protection: Mono County’s landscapes and ecosystems are unique and fragile. Taking decisive action now prevents long-term environmental damage and preserves these natural treasures for both residents and visitors for years to come.

Public Safety: Safe, clean areas are essential for residents and tourists alike. Wildfire debris creates a serious public health hazard. Neglecting this undermines public health and safety, as well as Mono County’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination.

Approving this cleanup demonstrates leadership, responsible stewardship, and a commitment to the people and visitors who care deeply about this region. I strongly encourage you to take action and move this project forward without delay.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and service to the community.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Also, please feel free to make your own statements too. The more comments made the better.

I'm attaching links for the meeting tomorrow if you would like to attend to make public comment. The agenda is there too.

Fire Update! (Its a little lengthy but all very important to share)

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
To Our Valued Customers:

We were notified this past Friday that although the state declared a state of emergency, they have decided NOT to cover the clean up expenses!!

What does this mean and why are we informing you of that decision?
This means that individual property owners are responsible for the cost. It also means that the county stated that they are going to make a decision on February 3rd about possible county funding to cleanup.
We are informing you of this decision as the 6 mobile homes and 2 tiny homes that were on the RV park property were underinsured(due to no fault of their own-we were maxed on coverage but mobile homes don't get much based on value).
This means that we absolutely need Mono County to fund the gap in the cleanup. Based on their own budget reports they have reserve funds for emergencies and a fire is classified as an emergency. Recent conversations have made us think that they wont be using those funds to do that. Without county funding assistance your favorite camping location may be no more.
We have tried to get answers from them, sending legal precedent and the response today was the decision is being made Feb 3rd and that's that. We requested a meeting for open dialogue to ask questions and get answers and they refused. They do not want to hear from us. And that meeting just allows public comment with no dialogue.
Cleanup also needs to be expedited so that we may reopen ASAP. With winter weather, we have a short timeframe to rebuild this summer. Without both funding and expediting the cleanup the future is murky at best.

What can you do to help?
We are asking that you reach out to the board members and request/demand that they use the emergency reserve fund to fund the cleanup and cover the gaps in insurance coverage. Their fund shows 2.7 million in the account which is more than enough to cover the gap from what insurance coverage that's available. There will be contact information listed below and a template that you can use if you would like to. Getting loud respectfully seems to be the only way to get people the listen.

We are also looking for the following:
-- Is anyone an "Environmental Contractor" approved to do wildfire/"hazmat" cleanup?
-- Is anyone a lawyer that would be willing to contribute their time to helping us deal with the county?

Request to Approve Funding and Expedite Cleanup for Pack Fire

Body:
Dear Members of the Mono County Board of Supervisors,

I am writing as a member of the public that recreates in and deeply values McGee Creek and Mono County.

I respectfully request the Board approve funding for the wildfire debris cleanup and prioritize expediting this cleanup as soon as the weather allows. Prompt funding and cleanup is critical for public safety, environmental protection, and the recovery of the affected community, as well as for those of us who recreate and spend time and money there.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent and important matter.

Sincerely,
A Mono County Recreation User

If you would like to take it a step further, the board has listen their phone numbers on the county website as public information and are listed below.

We want to thank you in advance for any effort you make on our behalf. Hopefully it will make enough of an impact and McGee Creek will be available to camp in again.

Thank you,
Emily, Thomas, John and Greg

To Our Valued Customers:

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging time following the fire.

This email is to serve as an update on what we are doing with current and future reservation for this upcoming summer.

At this time, we will be refunding all deposits currently on file. Please note that reservations are not being canceled—all existing reservations remain on the calendar for the 2026 summer season. We will not be taking any new reservations until sometime in the spring when we have a better reopening timeline. Please read below for answers to common questions we are getting right now.

Why are deposits being refunded?
Because the rebuilding timeline is not yet finalized and depends on several factors outside of our control, we feel it is best not to hold your funds at this time.

What damage did the park sustain?
The office, bathhouse, and the main electrical box that powers the park were destroyed.

What was not damaged?
Fortunately, most sites sustained little to no damage. Some trees and sagebrush hills around and within the park were affected, but the ponds, trout shacks, bridge, pump/well house, electrical hookups, and dog park are all intact.

When do we anticipate reopening?
Please understand that this timeline may change as rebuilding progresses. The main electrical box has been special ordered, with an anticipated delivery in April. Cleanup has been delayed due to government processes and winter weather, but once it begins, progress should move quickly in the spring. Replacing the office should be straightforward; however, plans for the bathhouse are still being determined. It's possible that this summer may require guests to have self-contained units, though this is not yet confirmed. At this time, we are hopeful for a June reopening.

What about tent camping?
Tent camping will depend on the solution we implement for the bathhouse, as restrooms are required for tent campers.

What are the next steps for existing reservations?
We will reach out in the spring to discuss how you would like to proceed with your reservation.

Are you accepting new reservations?
We will not accept new reservations until we have a clearer reopening timeline. We expect to have more information sometime in the spring.

What if I need to cancel my reservation?
You may email us your cancellation request, and it will be processed in the spring.

When can we expect another update?
Once the snow melts and cleanup begins, we will have more clarity. We anticipate sharing another update in the spring.

We sincerely apologize to those who received a refund before receiving this explanation. Both the managers and one of the owners lost their homes in the same fire, and during that time our communication unfortunately fell out of order. We truly apologize for the confusion this caused.

Please know how much we appreciate each and every one of you. We understand the joy, memories, and traditions that come with visiting McGee Creek, and we are eager to reopen and welcome you back as soon as possible. Your continued support this summer means more to us than we can express.

Thank you,
Emily and Thomas Forte, Managers

✨ Make Giving Tuesday Count ✨

We’re still searching for a place to call home, still waiting on state assistance for cleanup, and still unsure what our long-term future will look like — but we’re staying hopeful.

Thomas, who proudly served our country, a disabled veteran, and Emily and Ayla are doing everything we can to stay strong but we still need your help. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing our GoFundMe. Every share truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful for everyone who has already supported us. 🙏💛

REQUEST FOR HELP (Topic: OTHER):

“I urge you to declare a State of Emergency for the Pack Fire / McGee Creek area. Families are displaced, extended housing support is urgently needed, and post-fire hazards, avalanches, landslides, and debris flow pose imminent danger.

Please activate the STATE OF EMERGENCY, CalOES, and LADWP assessments immediately.

This region also protects water resources serving millions. The burn scar drains into McGee Creek → Crowley Lake → the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Please act now so recovery, safety efforts, and needed housing support can begin immediately, as winter arrives.”

SHARING IS CARING:

✨ Sharing this message helps a family tonight.

✨ It pushes relief closer.

✨ It protects the mountains and the watershed we all depend on.

California Strong. Eastern Sierra Strong. Mammoth Lakes Strong. Together We Rise.

*THE DETAILS:

**Our mountain community is reeling from the Pack Fire that demolished nearly all homes in McGee Creek. With only a 20-minute evacuation notice before flames reached housing, these families lost everything, and many insurance companies are only covering one month of housing unless the area is formally declared a State of Emergency.

This matters because a declaration can unlock extended housing support, financial relief, hazard-mitigation funding, food benefits, and critical state/federal programs our small community cannot access otherwise.

A formal declaration tells insurers, state agencies, and federal partners:

‼️ This disaster is bigger than local resources can absorb.
‼️ Families need longer-term support now.
‼️ Our community’s safety and stability depend on state action.

And the stakes go beyond housing:

This burn area affects McGee Creek AND Crowley Lake, part of the watershed feeding the Los Angeles Aqueduct. According to LADWP, the Los Angeles Aqueduct is a critical water supply system for Southern California, providing approximately 40% of Los Angeles’s annual water demand in recent years, and supplying up to nearly 60% of the water treated at the LAA Filtration Plant (LADWP 2025 Drinking Water Quality Report & LADWP 2025 Snowpack/Water Supply Update). Without immediate protective action, wildfire damage, debris flows, landslides, and avalanche activity could threaten this critical water corridor.

🔥A State of Emergency helps our community now, as winter arrives.💧

🔥This is about families, safety, and water security for millions.💧

🔥GRATITUDE, as COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS KEY!💧

Pack Fire Update

It’s been 7 days since the fire, and we are still waiting for Governor Gavin Newsom to sign an emergency declaration. Without it, recovery is slower and many critical forms of assistance simply aren’t available. Families who lost everything urgently need this support. Please share, tag, call—anything you can do helps. Thank you.

Los Angeles Department of Water & Power the damage to your water supply will be affected due to run off, I urge you to contact the governor and ask him to declare a state of emergency since you will be directly affected too
