CRITICAL UPDATE!!! PLEASE PASS ALONG THIS INFO!
Large areas on both sides (East and West) of the lighthouse on Ladies’ Delight Island now have actively growing EURASIAN WATERMILFOIL. The perimeter of these actively growing plants are marked with YELLOW BOUYS. SEVERAL WATERCRAFT HAVE BEEN OBSERVED TRAVELING THROUGH THIS AREA THE PAST FEW DAYS! This will very likely cause the plants to spread even further by breaking off the tops of plants which will embed and grow new plants in a few days, broadening the area of infestation.
In about one week (August 19th) a contract company hired by MDEP will be applying ProcellaCor to the area. Most times this is highly effective in eliminating the Invasive Aquatic Plants within days. However, any damage done to the plants by PROPELLERS, JETWASH, PADDLES, FISHING HOOKS/LURES, OR EVEN THE ACT OF SWIPING A PLANT WHILE SWIMMING, will just prolong the infestation and spread of the Eurasian Watermilfoil.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD (and not the plants…) to your family and friends before they go boating. Without every lake user aware of this infestation area, the potential for ongoing threats just grows. Thank you!
