Well, this is a first. We had guests who seemingly only communicate via text, and even at that, only sporadically over a couple of months. Due in today from Pueblo CO, which is about 5 1/2 hours by car and maybe 7 towing horses. We guessed they would arrive by 2 or 3 pm. Nope, got a one sentence text at noon saying they got a late start, and would let use know when they left, then crickets, nothing. Then one sentence saying they would arrive "late evening", so we figured 7 maybe 8. Yep, no communication at all by 8 pm. We finally sent a "do not come" message about then. The woman responded they would arrive at 10:50 pm. I daresay my response was not friendly. We turned down an Easter dinner invite and worked hours to prepare barn stalls, the apartment, and to prep for their breakfast. We only expect guests to be as respectful of us as we are of them. We have 11 year repeat guests who arrive late after driving straight through from Texas, we have had folks limp in after a truck or trailer issue, they call, they communicate, no problem. This was a kind of poopy Easter for us because this couple was so inconsiderate.

It has been a very busy year. We have had some serious health issues and B&BBarn guests, (loads). Bear issues, he nebbed two of our piglets, even crawling over hot wire. Dug up our septic again, (is there a head scratch emoji?), and took off with a goose. But good news, we welcomed in our second calf.

This morning, I made travelling show horse guests my ham, cheese, and fresh spinach puffy omelets, butter fried baby Yukon gold potato wedges, scratch made buttermilk biscuits and my caramel apple jelly, OJ and our chocolate turtle coffee. The one guest told me he thought it was the best breakfast he had ever had. Score one for the old lady!

Haven't posted in a long time. Bad on me, but we are really as busy with repeat customers as we can be. And snow, lots and lots of constant snow. My page is so cluttered by "suggested for you" crap that it takes hours to clean. Somehow some total dickwad posted photos that have absolutely nothing to do with us, our property, or, dear god, my food on Yelp. I managed to delete a few, but the disgusting food photos and a bunch of industrial crap remains. And yippee, now you querry our web name and it goes to some weird online scam casino. Got a UK call from former guessts rebooking. I apologize for the issues, I have been trying, but no clue...Thanksto those of you who keep finding us.

I was checking out a bunch of silly animal photos and it brought back a fond memory. Quite a few years ago, a little bit panicky woman called us wondering if we had room for her, husband. a couple big dogs and two literally giant horses. We did and she made resevations. Upon arrival, she was not kidding, one horse was 18 hh plus, the other 17.1. So they explained they were moving back home after spending a year or two taking care of an aged parent in AZ. The had made a plan to get a hotel room, she and the dogs would use the room, hubby woul sleep in the truck, horses in the trailer. Our place was so much better. I took her to the room and she was facing me and effusively thanking me for making their move so much easier. Meanwhile her young big dog was on the bed jumping up and down like a little kid. It was hilarious, but the lady was so grateful thanking me and it was clear the move home was emotional for her. Finally, I couldn't keep it in. I grabbed her shoulders shushed her then pointed to the crazy happy dog. She turned and was instantly in tears, she thought we would kick them out, and tried to catch the dog who now had the zoomies, and was running circles around the room. I was also in tears, laughing my ass off. The poor woman hugged me so hard when I assured her they were still welcome to stay, I will never forget those guests.

In the years we have been doing this, we have had good guests and bad, but thankfully the good have always outweighed the bad, and our "repeat offenders" have become good friends.

Monday morning funny.

Whew, Wedding out, emergency visitor in. A single woman travelling in from California had a wheel bearing go out on her LQ. One horse, one tiny dog. One thrown wheel bearing. For those of you who follow us, please understand, as tired as we are, we will bend over backwards to assist horse travelers in dire need of a place to overnight, (or longer). We know some dramatic situations come up, so we work hard to help.

So our really hard working farmhand also is a supervisor for the dispensary at an old folks home. . Her fiancee is the most mannerly, and hard working bull rider ever. Her schedual changed and he helped me prep food literally all day. 60 pounds of produce and learned how to produce the prettiest dinner rolls ever. So grateful, there is good help still there. I hope the bride and groom appreciate it.
