Snow, snow and more snow! Though it's hard to tell on here, the TV6 news out of Marquette reported 52 inches of snow in Wetmore, 48.5 inches in Shingleton, and 42.5 inches in Munising. As if that wasn't enough, the winds picked up on Monday and I lost power for a day and a half. Power is back on now. Thank goodness for a whole house generator to keep my heat on and frig and freezer running! I'm doing fine, but it will be a few days before I get plowed out. County Road 437 (Thunder Lake Road) had a maintainer on it busting through, but County Road 440 (this runs in front of the Resort, Foote Rest and our house) hasn't been touched. Unfortunately, they typically come in from the west off FH-13 and clear to Camel Rider's/Swan Lake Road/snowmobile trailhead, but they never get down to this end. I'm the only one down here, so I guess I'm not a priority. In all the years up here, this is the most snow I've ever seen at one time.

Surrounded by love, Ted (Dad/Grandpa/Great Grandpa) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Our hearts are shattered, but his love will stay with us forever!

Theodore A. Burson Ted was born at home on Papakeechie Lake near Syracuse, Indiana, on June 17, 1941. He met his Savior on January 27, 2026, right where he wanted to be, at home on Foote Lake in the woods of northern Michigan near Manistique, after a long, hard fought

We’re doing some fall work at the Resort and came across this. Mushrooms….any thoughts as to why they’d be in a circle?? And we don’t know, so we won’t have a correct answer!

Here’s the color map for this fall! I will say, I do think the colors will be a little early. I’ve seen some birch leaves on the ground already that are yellow, and I’ve seen some maple tree leaves that are red that are also on the ground. There’s a little chill in the air! If you’re considering heading our way for a fall color trip, I promise it will be worth it!

Interesting map of how the daylight changes!

This past Sunday, July 6th, Burson’s Delta Resort had a guest ‘first’….a wedding! Jody and Clay have been coming to the Resort since 2015, they were engaged on the shore of Lake Superior in 2020, and they got married right down in front of Foote Lake and the Pine cabin this past weekend! It was a gorgeous day, about 66° and sunny, no bugs, and everything went as planned. They filled the cabins with family and friends for the week, and we were honored to be part of their special day. Congratulations to you both! ❤️

We were sitting by the fire tonight at the resort and this topic came up. If you look at some of the photos from the original post attached, Sand Point in Munising was affected by the seiche. I had no idea these occurred on the Great Lakes!
