Alderwood Resort History:

From 1948 to 1988, Floyd and Baye Christensen from Necedah, Wisconsin owned Alderwood Resort and used the property as a family estate designating each of the smaller cabins to one of their children. Floyd was president of F.M. Reed Lumber Company with lumber yards in Necedah, Mauston, New Lisbon, and Camp Douglas, Wisconsin.
During the first years of Christensen's ownership, Alderwood was co-owned by George "Babe" and Lucille Speas, a Bartling relative. Christensen's used the property for three seasons each year. In the later years, Bayview Cabin became available for friends to rent. Floyd passed away in 1974, followed by Baye in 1988 which led to the sale of Alderwood Resort.

Alderwood Resort History:
On October 27, 1944, Alderwood Resort, named Chain O' Lakes Lodge and owned by Edmund Kmentt, was purchased by Edward and Cora Scotten. Shortly after, the Scottens renamed the property Alderwood Lodge.

Alderwood Resort History:
Alderwood Resort's story begins when our original red cabins were built in the 1930s. As seen in a 1938 Chamber of Commerce Visitor Guide, Alderwood Resort was originally named "Chain O' Lakes Lodge" and owned by Edmund Kmentt. Prior to that, oral history says that the property was a small camp for the Ojibwe to gather and sell blueberries.
