Fall is in full swing in Tioga County. Pawildsproperties.com
If you have never stood at the rim of Pine Creek Gorge on a crisp October morning, put it on your list. Up in Tioga County the land just falls away beneath you into this deep wild canyon, and Pine Creek threads along the bottom like a silver ribbon you could almost reach down and touch. 🍂
Folks around here have always called it the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, and in autumn you understand exactly why. The whole gorge lights up in crimson and gold and burnt orange, ridge after ridge of it rolling off into the distance until the color fades into the morning haze. There is usually a little mist resting in the valley early on, and when the sun finally reaches the treetops the entire thing seems to glow from the inside.
I think what I love most is how quiet it stays. Just the wind moving through the leaves and maybe a hawk riding the thermals way out over the middle of it all. The kind of view that makes you slow down and remember how lucky we are to have country like this right in our own backyard. 🧡
Have you made the drive up to see the gorge in fall, and do you have a favorite overlook you always come back to? 🦅
