Established in 1940 and recently renovated, the Marathon Motel sits on 10 acres with 10 newly decorated rooms *WITH UPDATED HEATING AND AC UNITS!!!* divided among four duplex cabins. The motel is a wonderful example of vintage Americana. Here, guests can relax in the adobe-walled courtyard with flowering native plants, fireplace, fountain, and spectacular views of the mountains and starry skies. T

he easy-to-navigate RV Park has 19 full hookups with an array of services. Camping is available in the rear of the property that provides seclusion, privacy, and a beautiful view of the mountains.

✨ A glimpse into the cosmic clouds of Rho Ophiuchi ✨

Captured from the Marathon Motel about a year ago by Dennis Sprinkle, this incredible image is the result of 8.8 hours of exposure — collecting tiny pieces of light over time to reveal a scene far beyond what our eyes can see.

Rho Ophiuchi is one of the closest stellar nurseries to Earth, a vast region of glowing gas and dark dust where new stars are forming. The beautiful colors and wispy structures in this image aren’t added — they’re the light of the universe itself, captured through the patience and precision of astrophotography. 🌌

This is the magic of dark skies: the less light pollution we have, the more of the cosmos we get to uncover.

Just a friendly reminder that while dogs are welcome on the property and at our RV sites, they aren’t allowed inside motel rooms.

If your pup joins you, please help us keep the grounds beautiful by cleaning up after them and using the designated pet relief areas rather than the courtyard. We appreciate your help in keeping things comfortable for everyone — humans and pups alike!
