Our Spring Into Summer Raffle ends at 11:59 PM June 27, and we are far, far from our goal. We have great prizes, including a rural getaway package in the Marble Falls area with a stay at White Rabbit Ranch TX, and an Austin getaway package with a stay at the Origin Hotel.

This raffle is a major fundraiser. Fosters and funds are two essential components of rescue. As we advocated for SMRAS to build trust and partner with the community instead of issuing deadlines, we had quite a few people asking us to rescue those dogs, especially Koa once he was the last one left.
One person even went to SMRAS this morning and tried to pull Koa under our rescue. We've also had several people who fostered or adopted previous deadline dogs, not through us, ask us to take them in.
None of the people asking us to save dogs filled out our foster application. Few if any bought a raffle ticket or donated.
And it's not like the support comes post rescue. We pulled Ferris, who was R***r at SMRAS, without a foster in place, and I brought him home because we had nowhere else for him to go. Since then, we have not had any suitable applications (I don't think we've had any at all, but I'm not at the computer to check), and few if any donations toward his care.
We need everyone reading to understand this: private nonprofit rescues do not get taxpayer funding. FFRP has no paid staff. We're trying to raise funds, find fosters, do meet & greets, respond to messages, and make time to advocate for effective sheltering.
Sorry for the rambling message. If anyone is still reading, here's the summary. To save dogs, we need to be in a sustainable position, and that means we need fosters and funds. Not promises or pledges. Fosters and funds.
