America is turning 250 years old. Marietta has been steeped in history since 1788, when it rose at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers as the first permanent settlement in the Northwest Territory. This week, that same spirit of independence is on full display downtown. The Galley, The Adelphia, and The Hackett are dressed in red, white, and blue bunting, and around the corner Tiber Way flies Betsy Ross inspired flags, their 13-star pattern a quiet nod to the era that shaped the nation's early identity. Two local businesses, Signality and Promanco, banded together to raise it all by hand, a living tribute to America, past and present, side by side. Come see it in person and share in a moment 250 years in the making.
