⚓ Every burger at this Marine City bar shows up cut in half. The reason? It's so big that you may not finish the whole thing.
This is Gar's Lounge, a riverfront fixture on Water Street since the late '70s. The half-pound Gar Burger is the signature, and the oversized draft beers (called "boombas") are the perfect match.
The front deck sits right on the St. Clair River where freighters drift past while you eat. Inside, it's nautical decor, a long old-school bar, pool tables, and free popcorn on the table. Nearly five decades of the same formula, and the place still fills up.
Big portions, cold boombas, zero pretense.
