In 1943, Oscar McNeil opened a furniture store in a former hotel on Cherry Street in downtown Marion, Virginia. World War II was still raging and with most industrial efforts still going toward the war, newly manufactured furniture was only available to dealers who could supply lumber to replinish the factory's needs. McNeil would haul a load of Smyth County Virginia lumber to North Carolina and b

ring back new furniture to sell. McNeil sold was items that had been used and were purchased in larger cities such as Baltimore, Philadelphia and Cincinnati. The business moved to Main Street in Marion in 1970 when the hotel was demolished. McNeil Furniture opened their second location in April 2008 in West Jefferson, North Carolina. They are now located in the same building that formerly housed a business founded by The Burgess family, who were Mr. Many things have changed since 1943; however some things remain constant. McNeil Furniture is still family owned and operated. We offer some of the best home furnishings available, manufactured from companies around the world. We shop for the best value we can find.
