Last week, I got to spend some time with my tourism friends at our South Central Kansas Tourism Region meeting in Lyons, Kansas. We meet monthly to collaborate and further tourism for our great state of Kansas. On this trip, I was welcomed by the friendly folks of Lyons Chamber of Commerce, I got to see the worlds largest salt shaker, I did some shopping at Smith & Co. Western Emporium (amazing store…a must visit!), and I finished up with a sunflower photo shoot! I ❤️ Kansas!!!

Seriously. Someone out there just got VERY lucky. 🍀

We just had a cancellation for Old Settlers Weekend — September 25–27, which means we suddenly have ONE ROOM AVAILABLE for a weekend when we are normally completely SOLD OUT.

Like… WHAT?! 👀

If you know Old Settlers Weekend in Marion, you know this is basically the equivalent of finding a golden ticket. 🎟️✨

💍 Okay… my heart is VERY full right now. ❤️

Over the past few weeks, we have had multiple couples say YES to celebrating their wedding at the Historic Elgin Hotel, and I honestly don't know if I will ever stop getting excited when someone chooses us for one of the biggest days of their lives.

Every time I walk someone through the Elgin and start talking about what their day could look like here, I see it too—the ceremony, the flowers, the laughter, the people they love filling these beautiful old spaces…and then they tell me, “This is it.” 🥹

THAT moment. Every. Single. Time. ❤️

I love this hotel. I love its history, its character, its quirks, and the way it somehow manages to make every wedding feel completely different and completely personal. But what I love most is getting to know our couples, hearing what they envision for their day, and then helping turn that vision into something they'll remember forever.

So, to all of our newly booked Elgin couples: THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting us with your day. Thank you for choosing this beautiful little piece of history to become part of your history.

I am already ridiculously excited for every single one of you—and just wait until you see what we're going to create together. 💕💍

We’ve learned pretty quickly that a granola bar doesn’t cut it after a full day of hunting. 🥘🦌

Most guests tell us the same thing when they check in. They’re tired, hungry, and not looking to figure out dinner.

That’s why we offer our Bierock Meal. It’s made just around the corner at CB Baked Goods, and it feels like something you’d only get in a small Kansas town like this.

Along with the bierock, you’ll get chips, bottled water, and a homemade chocolate chip cookie. It’s simple, but it hits the spot after a long day outside.

We’ve had hunters tell us they should’ve ordered two. One usually disappears faster than expected.

There’s something about cold Kansas mornings that makes a warm room feel even better. 🦌🛏️

We’ve stayed in enough hunting lodges to know this. Where you sleep can either make your trip easier or wear you down.

That’s why we put together a blog for hunters coming through the Flint Hills. It covers nearby public hunting areas, a few planning tips, and what we’ve learned from years of hosting folks just like you.

We live here, so we see how the day really goes. It doesn’t end when you leave the field.

We’ve had more than a few hunters tell us they’re done with thin mattresses and bright motel signs. 🦌🔥

We get it more than you might think. After a long day in the field, you just want a place that actually feels restful.

That’s why the Flint Hills Suite is set up the way it is. It works well for two romantic hunters sharing the trip, a solo hunter, or a couple who just want a quiet escape together.

Inside, you’ll find a queen bed with a little character. There’s also a fireplace that actually warms the room, a reading chair, and a Jacuzzi tub made for two. Most folks tell us the tub is where the day finally slows down.

We also like to remind guests about the land here. The rocky, flint-heavy soil made farming tough, so much of the tallgrass prairie stayed untouched. That’s why this place still feels open.
