If you happen to meet this guy in town, please thank him for 8 years of outstanding service to Lincoln Trail State Park. Today Mark Setzer did his last round of the park. He left big shoes to fill. We are sad we won’t have him here every day but he is a great friend of the park so we say see you later and not good bye. We all learned a lot from Mark, and we are a better staff to have worked with him. Region 3 in the IDNR is the best staff in the state, because we all learned from Mark!

Yesterday a group of 25 students from Oblong Highschool planted 66 hazelnut shrubs in the interior of the Air Strip Trail. This project was our annual Earth Day in the Parks celebration! They made light work of it and then enjoyed the beautiful day walking in the park! Thank you again Oblong High School!

The online system for reserving campsites and shelters at Illinois state parks and historic sites will transition to an updated and more user-friendly platform beginning Friday, May 1.

To accommodate the transition, electronic reservations will be unavailable April 27-30. Customers will still be able to make walk-up reservations at campgrounds as availability allows during these dates.

Users will continue to use exploremoreil.com – the customer service platform of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources – to make reservations after the transition. Reservations made prior to April 27 will automatically migrate to the new platform; customers will be required to use the same email to access them. All customers will need to create a new account and password in the new system.

Thank you for your patience during the transition, and we look forward to welcoming you this summer.
