The Way Inn

The Way Inn A Queen Ann style home built in 1853. Purchased in 1855 by James and Anna Way. The Way Inn is a resi The homes second floor houses the Inn.

The home was built by George Lay who sold it two years later to James Way. In 1882, Way began extensive alterations to the home that included changing the pitch of the roof and adding a bay window. In 1891, Way added the two verandas on the front of the house and the picture window on the east side. The carriage house was built after the early 1880's house renovations. The home was acquired in 199

8 by homeowner and Innkeeper, Andy Merrild, who has redone every room in the home (some more than once). The exterior of the home was repainted in 2011 using six colors and inspired by the homes of Charleston. The southern theme was adopted for the carriage house using five colors. There are two bedrooms with a designated adjacent full bathroom with whirlpool bath tub. There is an additional bedroom without designated bathroom that may be rented in conjunction with the Anna Way room.

It is with heavy hearts, yet a determined spirit that we are closing The Way Inn for future bookings. Over these past eight years, we have been blessed to share our beautiful home with new friends who have become like family. It was always our hope that each of our guests left with a special Marshall memory created just for them and that they would continue to return to this wonderful, quaint town. Now, it’s our turn to create our own memories as we make plans for more RV’ing, more bike rides, more golf, more sunsets, and more family time. We cherish the memories with all of you and hope when you do return to Marshall you’ll stop by and say hello! Much love, Andy & Leslie
