Todd looks over what's left of the famous Bridgewater Inn in Matlacha, Florida believed to have been built in the 40's. Elvis is rumored to have visited and even filmed a movie right across the street. Fishing right from the guest rooms backdoor was a highlight of the institution's faithful visitors. At least one room had a trap door that it was rumored to allow criminals on the run to hideout and fish through for food. Manatees and dolphins would visit the guests daily. Todd and his wife, were the hotels newest managers. They put everything they owned into their new endeavor having only been in charge for 13 months. They were embarking on their passion to run a destination boutique hotel and had also recently moved into a new small home, just across the street. Unlike the remnants of the hotel pictured here, their home and all of their possessions were obliterated by Ian, nothing was left for them to dig through. All Todd has left are the clothes in this photo.
The day after we took this photo, the debris was removed. Nothing is left. They don't see how the landmark could be rebuilt.
