At a lot of places, breakfast is something you grab on your way out the door.

Here, it is part of the stay.

Meet Amy, one of the Innkeepers behind The Inns at 8th and Main, and very much a part of your experience from the moment you arrive. She is the one setting the table with vintage dishes, checking the rooms, greeting guests, sharing local recommendations, and making sure the little details feel thoughtful.

At our Inn, hospitality is not something we hand off. It is something we live.

This is what makes staying here feel different. You are not just booking a room in McConnelsville. You are being welcomed into a historic home where someone genuinely cares whether your weekend feels easy, restful, and memorable.

And yes, there is a very good chance Amy will be smiling in the kitchen, holding a breakfast plate, or making sure your coffee cup is full.

This is owner-hosted hospitality with heart.

Come experience it for yourself.

Book your stay at The Inns at 8th and Main this summer for a taste of true hospitality.

Mornings at the Inn just have a way of reminding us what really matters.

A breakfast table. A little laughter. A princess crown. A proud dad soaking up the kind of moment that becomes a memory before you even realize it.

Today, we’re celebrating the dads, grandpas, father figures, and all the steady hands who show up with love, patience, and maybe a little extra syrup on the side.

Happy Father’s Day, Inn style.

Last December, the Zappa Family discovered McConnelsville during a weekend getaway for two.

This summer, they returned and brought the whole family along for the adventure.

Their stay included breakfast at the Inn, a visit to The Wilds, the annual car show on the square, an evening at the historic Twin City Opera House to see the Michael movie, local shopping, and enjoying some of our favorite downtown restaurants.

Stories like this are one of the reasons we love what we do. What starts as a quiet getaway often turns into a family tradition, with guests returning to share the places they love with the people they love.

Thank you, Zappa Family, for making The Inns at 8th & Main part of your Southeast Ohio memories. ❤️

McConnelsville may be a small town, but it has a way of bringing people together and creating memories that last long after the trip is over.

We are so proud and grateful to call this beautiful theater ours!

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Twin City Opera House has been at the heart of downtown McConnelsville since 1892. For more than a century, this landmark has brought people together for theatrical productions, live music, films, community celebrations, meetings, and public events. As one of the most recognizable buildings in Morgan County, the Opera House has long served as both a cultural gathering place and a symbol of civic pride for southeastern Ohio.

Like many historic buildings in Appalachian communities, the Opera House faced decades of economic challenges and deferred maintenance. Yet local residents never gave up on it. Their commitment has led to an ongoing $3 million rehabilitation that is preserving the building's historic character while ensuring it can continue serving future generations. Today, the Twin City Opera House remains a vibrant destination for arts, education, tourism, and community life, drawing visitors to downtown McConnelsville and supporting local businesses along the way.

As a Legacy 250 building, the Twin City Opera House represents the resilience, determination, and pride of a community that understands the value of its historic places. More than a building, it is a living reminder that preserving the past can help strengthen the future of Ohio's small towns.

Do you have a historic theatre or opera house in your community? We would love t hear your building's story. www.heritageohio.org/250-buildings-250-stories/

Soft Sunday

“Be the labor great or small… Do it well or not at all.”

I found this little fortune tucked away in my photos from December of 2019, right before we opened The Inns at 8th & Main.

At the time, we were still measuring, painting, hanging, fixing, dreaming, and trying to bring an old historic house back to life one careful detail at a time.

We didn’t know then what all this place would become. We didn’t know the guests we would meet, the breakfasts we would serve, the stories that would be shared around our tables, or the way this work would shape us.

But we did know this.

Whatever the labor was, great or small, we wanted to do it well.

And this weekend, after the plates were cleared, the coffee cups were empty, the napkins were folded and unfolded, and the table had done its job once again, that little fortune felt like a reminder.

This is still the work.

Not perfect. Not fancy. Just care.
The kind of care that shows up in the little things, the quiet work, the tucked-in corners, the warm breakfast, the clean rooms, and the hope that when someone walks through our doors, they feel it.

On this soft Sunday, I’m grateful for the reminder.

Do the work well. Love the people well. Build something that lasts.

With heart,
Amy & Dan

One of the questions we care about most is not just “What’s for breakfast?” but “Can I feel comfortable eating breakfast here?”

For many guests, food allergies, intolerances, and dietary needs are part of everyday life. We understand that deeply, and we do our best to approach breakfast with care, communication, and thoughtfulness.

We wrote a little more about how we handle dietary accommodations at The Inns at 8th & Main for guests who want to know before they book.

Some stays leave behind the sweetest kind of story.

Our recent Lavender House guests came to McConnelsville for a family visit and left us the kind of note that reminds us exactly why we do this.

They wrote about the clean, cozy comfort of the house, breakfast at The Stone House, the special touches, and the joy of discovering McConnelsville for the first time.

And then they tucked a little note right into the dictionary on the lavender page. How perfect is that?

The Lavender House is its own kind of stay. A private home with room to settle in, a front porch made for slow mornings, lavender blooming nearby, and breakfast just a short drive away at The Stone House when added to your stay.

It is perfect for family visits, friend getaways, wedding weekends, reunions, longer stays, and those “we just need a place that feels easy” trips.

Their advice?
“After coming to MoCo for many years, our first glimpse of the historic Opera House. We will be back for a movie or concert!”

That is what we love most. Guests come for a place to stay, but they often leave with a little piece of McConnelsville tucked into their heart.

Come stay at The Lavender House on Liberty.

Private, comfortable, full of charm, and part of The Inns at 8th & Main family.
