Kathy and I would like to wish all of our friends, cabin guests, and followers of The Hogshead Cabin a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year! Here’s a recap of some of our highlights from 2025:
Two of our friends, Cathy Showalter and Bill Lyons each gave us an original oil painting and a drawing, respectively, of our cabin. We’ve posted these previously on FB and we treasure each of them. They are two truly talented people.
Early in the year we received a last minute booking request on a Sunday for a stay beginning the following day. The father is an air traffic controller from Charlotte and he and his wife wanted their two sons to experience a good snowfall and be able to play in the snow. The minute they arrived it started snowing and didn’t stop until the next afternoon, about 8” total. They had a ball sledding down our hill for several days. It appears that air traffic controllers have pretty accurate weather data.
An interesting set of guests were four guys that used the front porch of our cabin as a recording studio for several days. They were here to record a local young lady that’s starting to make a name for herself in the music industry. Her stage name is Fey Fili and you can find some of her videos on YouTube. We tried our best to be quiet while they were recording but really wanted to hear her sing.
In August we hosted a bridal party for our friends Allison and Ben. The bride and bridesmaids spent the first night and the next day getting ready for the big event and the bride and groom spent the second night in the cabin for their honeymoon. They were the first of three honeymoon couples we had in 2025, and we enjoyed meeting each of them.
We have met so many nice people since starting this cabin rental venture and we sincerely appreciate each and every one of you that have stayed with us over the past 2+ years. Thank you so much for your friendship and your support!
