The Garrett County Health Department has confirmed the county's second animal rabies case of 2026 after a Swanton resident's dog fought with a positive raccoon. Pet owners are strongly urged to keep their animals current on rabies vaccinations and to contact Environmental Health Services at 301-334-7760 for more information.
Garrett College has shattered its summer enrollment record for the third year in a row, achieving a nearly 17% increase in student credit hours compared to last summer. This impressive growth was fueled by students taking heavier course loads and strong participation in high school dual enrollment and specialized degree programs.
