The heart of Hilton McLean is our people. 💙

This month, we’re rolling out the blue carpet for Ryan Palomo, our Assistant Director of Sales.

He has been part of the Hilton family for four years and joined our McLean team in 2025. For Ryan, hospitality is deeply personal. His mother worked as a front desk agent and night auditor, and during a challenging time in his childhood, the hotel where she worked welcomed his family and became their home for several years.

Ryan fondly remembers it as his own Suite Life of Zack & Cody experience. More importantly, it showed him firsthand the difference genuine hospitality can make.

Today, Ryan carries that generosity forward by creating special moments, building meaningful relationships, and bringing plenty of laughter to our team. If he could trade roles with anyone at the hotel for a day, he would return to where his own career began: the front desk. As Ryan puts it, front desk agents are the heart of the hotel. They know everything happening, stay on their toes and experience something different every day.

When he isn’t working, this self-proclaimed foodie loves discovering new restaurants and experiences, traveling and reconnecting with his family and heritage in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

A few more things to know about Ryan? Being next door to Starbucks is one of his favorite Hilton McLean “perks” and before hospitality, his dream was to perform on Broadway or host his own talk show. We think he may still have a future in both!

Bring the family for a festive evening filled with decorated trunks, Halloween treats, family games, costumes, food and beverages available for purchase, and two indoor movie showings.

Want to decorate a trunk and join the fun for a good cause? Participation is free, and each registered trunker will receive a $20 credit to Härth Restaurant & Lounge as a thank you from our team.

Trunkers should bring individually wrapped candy and arrive at 5 PM for parking, setup and decorating.

The fun also gives back! A portion of proceeds from food and beverage purchases throughout October, including purchases made during the Trunk-or-Treat event, will be donated to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation.

Costumes are encouraged.

We are rolling out the blue carpet for Director of Culinary Daniel Sosa! Please join us in welcoming him to the Hilton McLean team, and meet our very first Hilton McLean Icon.

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Daniel began his career as an industrial designer before following his passion for food to Le Cordon Bleu in Ottawa. After more than 13 years with Hilton and roles across Colombia, Panama and the United States, he brings a global perspective and people-first approach to Hilton McLean.

Most recently, Daniel served as Complex Executive Chef for Hilton Portland Downtown and The Duniway, a Hilton Hotel. In his new role, he will lead the hotel’s culinary operations, develop our culinary talent and serve as a key liaison with Hilton headquarters, bringing an elevated level of collaboration and innovation to the guest experience.

For Daniel, hospitality starts with the people behind it:

“Great hospitality begins with great people. My priority is to support our team and build something we can all be proud of together.”

When he’s not in the kitchen, you’ll likely find Daniel exploring a new city or restaurant with his wife. Somehow, he says, food always finds its way onto the agenda.

We’re excited for everything he’ll bring to our team and to the table!
