Three fall traditions are returning to Patrick County this month, with Octoberfest, the Apple Dumpling Festival and Pancake Days scheduled throughout October.

The Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department will host Octoberfest Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature apple butter, lunch plates, fried apple pies and bluegrass music.

The Apple Dumpling Festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Stuart, offering apple dumplings topped with freshly churned ice cream.

Pancake Days will be held Sundays, Oct. 18 and 25, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Meadows of Dan Community Center, featuring pancakes, gravy and coffee.

Why did we choose here? Why did we build The Oaks?
It started with our dogs, Rue and Baker.
And the quiet realization that what we were looking for didn’t quite exist here.

We had camped as kids. But it wasn’t until we camped again—this time with our dogs—that the idea really took root.

We wanted more than gravel driveways and small spaces.
We wanted the feeling of coming home.

Paved roads. Private bathrooms. A dog park with room to roam. Mountain views that stop you at the gate.

But more than that…
We wanted to build a place that *feels* like something.

Where you arrive and feel awe.
Where you leave and already miss it.

Where the mountains wrap around you like an old memory.
This place is that dream—brought to life, one thoughtful detail at a time.

And fall? It’s when this place shines brightest.
The colors. The air. The slow, quiet magic of the season.

We’re grateful for the guests who arrive for the mountains, settle into the quiet, and leave already thinking about coming back.

That feeling is what we hoped to create here from the beginning.

The colors are at their peak, the mountains glow in late–October light, and the evenings settle into the kind of peace you can only find here.
