Cruise vs. All-Inclusive Resort: Which Vacation Is Right for You?
You’re ready for a vacation. 🌴
Now comes the question:
Should you book a cruise or stay at an all-inclusive resort?
Both can give you an amazing getaway, but they offer two very different travel experiences. The best choice really depends on what you want your vacation to feel like.
Choose a Cruise If You Want Variety
One of the biggest advantages of cruising is the opportunity to experience multiple destinations during one vacation.
You can wake up in a different port, explore for the day, return to the ship, enjoy dinner and entertainment, go to sleep…and wake up somewhere completely different.
Cruises can be great for travelers who enjoy:
* Visiting multiple destinations
* Live entertainment and shows
* Lots of activities
* Different dining options
* Excursions and sightseeing
* Having plenty to do throughout the trip
There’s also something nice about unpacking your suitcase once while your “hotel” travels with you.
But remember: not everything on a cruise is included.
Depending on the cruise line and package, things like alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, excursions, gratuities, spa treatments, and other extras may cost more.
Choose an All-Inclusive Resort If You Want to Stay Put and Relax
If your ideal vacation looks more like:
Beach. Pool. Food. Drink. Nap. Repeat.
An all-inclusive resort might be calling your name. 😂
Instead of moving between destinations, you’re usually staying in one location and enjoying the resort experience.
Many all-inclusive packages include accommodations, meals, drinks, entertainment, and select activities, which can make it easier to plan your vacation budget.
They can be especially appealing for:
* Couples
* Honeymoons
* Anniversary trips
* Girls’ trips
* Birthday getaways
* Travelers who primarily want to relax
Just remember that, as we talked about in our last blog, “all-inclusive” doesn’t necessarily mean absolutely everything is included.
Spa services, excursions, premium dining, transportation, and certain activities may still cost extra.
Which One Is Cheaper?
This is where people sometimes get caught up.
Don’t automatically choose whichever option has the lowest advertised price.
A cruise might initially look cheaper until you add flights, gratuities, beverage packages, Wi-Fi, excursions, specialty dining, and transportation.
An all-inclusive resort might have a higher upfront price but include more of the things you would otherwise purchase separately.
Instead of asking:
“Which vacation is cheaper?”
Ask:
“What am I actually getting for my money?”
That’s a much better comparison.
Think About How You Like to Vacation
If you’re the person who gets bored sitting in the same place for three days, a cruise might be more your speed.
If your idea of vacation is doing absolutely nothing unless you feel like it, an all-inclusive resort may be perfect.
Neither one is automatically better.
The right vacation is the one that matches you.
And that’s one reason working with a travel advisor can be helpful. Instead of simply finding somewhere to go, we can look at the type of experience you’re trying to have and find options that fit your preferences and budget.
Because booking a vacation isn’t just about getting away.
It’s about choosing the experience you actually want.
