JUNE 13, 2024. THURSDAY. 23 DAY COUNTDOWN
ONE YEAR BIBLE STUDY
GOD’S MANUAL FOR LIVING YOUR LIFE
It is late, 7am, I slept well last night. I have been able to turn the Church over to GOD, and now I sleep. Yesterday was a good day. One of my readers, a CPA got the EIN number for the Church, so that we can open a Bank Account. If someone will just step up and be the Treasurer. I will not handle money or write checks. I am holding the checks that have been sent to me, until there is a Treasurer. We will get a 501C status, to stay legal with the government, which will make all tithes and offerings tax deductible. JESUS said, “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s”. We will not owe any taxes, but we need to stay in good with the government as long as possible. That will probably come to an end in the future.
1ST KINGS 11:1-12:19:
Drama, do you have drama in your life and your family? No matter, what it might be, it is not as bad as it was in Solomon’s family.
The Bible says, “Solomon was the wisest man to ever live.” But he did some stupid stuff. GOD created two institutions, the first one was marriage, “one man and one woman for life.” The second institution being the Church.
Many of you have been married, more than once and some of you are divorced and not married. Divorce has been in existence since the time of Moses. In Moses time, a man could divorce his wife, almost like getting rid of any other piece of property. In most cases, women were considered property of the husband. That is not the way set it up with Adam and Eve. By the way, GOD said, it was to be Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. It is not GOD’s design that we have divorce. But it is a fact. Maybe because some marriages should never have happened, in the first place. I guess you could say, that if Solomon couldn’t get it right, how can you?
Back in the 1980’s, I preached a sermon in a revival, called, “Divorce is NOT the Unpardonable Sin.” A deacon in that church, leaving the service tells me, “You did not preach the Bible, tonight.” I have always preached what GOD has shown me. I did not argue with him, but I did not change what I preached.
If you are divorced, GOD will forgive you for not doing it HIS way, but you might have to live with the consequences. If there are children involved, it will be a lifelong drama.
A huge part of the problem with our society today, it the home with an absent father. A study, many years ago, said that the first two years of a child’s life, the mother is the greatest influence. After that and for the rest of its life, the father is the greatest influence. It is hard and almost impossible for a father to be an influence, if he is not there.
V3: Solomon’s family was a colossal mess. He was married to the daughter of the Egyptian Pharoah; she was the queen. But the Bible say he also had seven hundred other wives and three hundred concubines. I am not going to try to explain that. I can’t to the satisfaction of most people. It does say, he loved them, which might have been infatuation. I seriously doubt he even knew the names of all of them. I’ll bet Christmas, had there been Christmas, would have been a headache. Imagine going shopping for presents with each one and getting the “equal” present for all your kids.
The Bible is full of stories of men, who were GOD’s chosen. But they were also human and human are really good at disobeying GOD and messing up their lives. Some get a second chance as some of you have.
The problem here is GOD said to marry one woman, and Solomon did not do what GOD said. He was also supposed to marry with the nation of Israel. The result was GOD punished him, by destroying Solomon’s kingdom. I don’t understand why he did it to Solomon’s son and not to Solomon, even though GOD had promised David, that Solomon would be King his entire life.
V11: “GOD said to Solomon: “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you.” GOD said that when HE did, HE would leave one tribe for the sake of David.
It is interesting that David, started out his Kingdom in a mess and ended, with a changed heart, seeking to really serve GOD. And Solomon started out with everything good and messed it up by turning against GOD and worshipping the gods of his pagan wives.
Compared to Solomon, we are in the same boat. America started out as a Christian nation, then under the idea of “freedom” of religion, we allowed every religion there is to be practiced in America, including the worship of satan. The idea of “freedom of religion” was that you could not be forced to worship in a state church, as was done in the Church of England.
Anything good that GOD can put into existence, man can mess up, in a big way. Look at all the denominations today. Look withing the denominations. The Southern Baptist Convention has become like our federal government, pushing programs and padding the positions of the leadership and leaders within the convention. They are always creating “new programs” in put into the churches, so they can keep a job. GOD’s progam is simple, “As YOU go, witness to others what GOD has done in your life.” And leave the results up to the HOLY SPIRIT. WE have done so much Bible Study in Sunday School and home Bible studies, and yet very little to no results for the Kingdom of GOD. The Convention today, is much like the Priests in the time of the Temple, out to protect their paychecks.
The State Convention has a program today, that when a Church gets without a pastor, if the Church wants assistance from the State, they will send a man out every Sunday for a couple of months or so, to preach and to guide a “pastor search committee”. Sounds good, but there is a catch. The Church is already contributing to the man’s salary by their giving to the State Convention, but the Church still has to pay him for coming. Seems like double paying, kinda like the government.
I offered in one Church to teach a Sunday School class. But I told them, I would not teach the literature they had, I was going to teach the One Year Bible. They wouldn’t let me teach the class. Oh, I know what some will say, “you could get off into any kind of doctrine that was in in agreement with the Church. You can do that anyway. You cannot protect the Church from the devil. Look at all the splits today.
GOD will protect HIS true Church, all others will one day give an account.
Well enough of reality. Back to Solomon.
V14: “Then the Lord raised up against Solomon an adversary.” There are those today, that want to say, “GOD does not do bad things to his children.” They must not have read the Old Testament. By the way, it was GOD who sent JESUS to the Cross. It don’t get any worse than that.
There are those who want to rely on “GOD IS IN CONTROL.” I see the signs everywhere and they want to think that nothing bad is going to happen to Christians personally. Have they not read the New Testament? The first century Christians were persecuted in the worse of ways. Even after that, some were persecuted and martyred by Churches. GOD was also in control when HE sent the Babylonians in to kill and capture and carry off as slaves, for 70 years.
Christians need to read the Bible, when it says, we should fear GOD, that means we should fear GOD and what HE can do to “us”.
You can read the rest of the drama in Solomon’s life today. I gotta move on to the Acts.
ACTS 9:1-25:
Here is an example of the persecution of the Church in the first century. Saul stands by as Stephen is being stoned to death, for sharing the Gospel. He then letters giving him authority to gather up Christians and have them put to death. Where did he get the letters? From the Priests of the Temple.
But Saul had a “face to face” encounter with GOD. Saul did not actually see HIM, but he did talk to HIM. If you are a Christian, you have had an encounter with GOD. Maybe in a quieter way, maybe not. If you don’t know of an encounter, then you are not saved and are headed to hell.
V13: GOD sent Ananias to Saul to instruct Him in what Saul was to do for GOD.
GOD can put us into situations that we are afraid to be in, but if HE sends us, HE has it taken care of. Ananias feared for his life, but he went anyway.
Saul was healed of his blindness. Maybe the three days gave him some time to think about what he had done. Once he was filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, which you now get the moment you are saved, he began to do what GOD told him to do.
But before he began preaching, he did what JESUS intended for all of us to do. He was baptized.
V23: “After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him.” When the work of GOD is being done, there will always be the devil trying to disrupt and stop it. It always happens in Churches, who are reaching the lost. I saw it in all my former Churches and this one will be no different.
As careful as I try to organize it and watch over it, the devil will still show up.
PSALMS 131:1-3:
This really speaks to me today, “I like a weaned child, I am content.”
V3: “Israel, put you hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.” They need to do this like never before.
