Rest in Peace most beloved sign maker, story teller, and pal to all, Rick Sacks.

Mendocino’s many unique businesses wouldn’t be as beautiful or eye-catching without the wonder work of ever-involved and invested community member Rick Sacks. Together, with his equally wonderful partner in signs and life, Megan, the Sacks have been adorning the businesses of Mendocino Coast with gorgeous handmade signs since the 1970’s.

Thank you for our stunning signage and all the heart you put into them. An artist and friend. You will be missed, but always remembered with great love and admiration 💚

At Nicholson House, the garden is more than something to admire—it’s something to listen to.

We spent time with Lucy, the heart behind the garden, to learn more about her approach and the intention woven into every corner. From choosing plants that support pollinators to allowing the garden to follow its natural rhythm, her work reflects a deep respect for the land and everything it sustains.

It’s a space shaped slowly, with care, and always with the future in mind—something we’re grateful to share with every guest who walks through it.
