It’s been truly special having Charles Gracie here with us this week Grapplers Retreat

A coral belt and one of the pioneers who helped establish Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the United States, Charles has been part of the growth of BJJ in America from its earliest days.

There’s something different about getting to spend several days learning from someone with that kind of history in Jiu-Jitsu — not just during the training sessions, but in the conversations and time together throughout the week.

A great group of people, a lot of Jiu-Jitsu, and another memorable week here in the redwoods.

Really grateful to have Charles here and to be able to put experiences like this together.

More from the week to come.

What would five days of training with Xande Ribeiro look like with only 18 students in the room?

This isn’t your typical Jiu-Jitsu camp.

Five days on the Redwood Coast of Northern California. Twice-daily, learning-focused training with Xande in a small-group environment where questions are encouraged and every student gets personal attention.

Between sessions: private bedrooms, chef-prepared meals, hot tub, sauna, and plenty of time to rest and recover in the redwoods.

April 25–30, 2027
Limited to just 18 guests.

A huge thank you to Henry Akins for an incredible week at Grapplers Retreat .

Henry brought a truly unique approach to teaching jiu-jitsu—thoughtful, detailed, and focused on helping everyone develop a deeper understanding of the art. Having several days to train, ask questions, explore concepts, and learn in such a small-group setting made this a very special experience.

We’re grateful to Henry for sharing so much of his knowledge with us, and to everyone who joined us and made the week what it was. Special thanks to those who traveled all the way from Australia, Latvia, England, and Scotland! Amazing 🤘

An unforgettable week of jiu-jitsu, learning, and good company. Thank you, Henry.

Our spring 2027 date with Henry is already sold out, but keep an eye out on www.GrapplersRetreat.com as we’ll be announcing new retreat dates soon!

Very special week at Grappler’s Retreat — we had the great pleasure of hosting Dan Hart and Ron of Hero Academy BJJ & Retreats along with an awesome group from across the country. Ron graciously hosted us last December in Costa Rica. It was an amazing experience and so nice being a guest for a change… and at a world class operation that’s run from the heart. Thanks guys for coming out to Mendocino. Grateful for you both 🙏

Dan Hart will be teaching in Costa Rica at Hero Academy BJJ & Retreats this December 3-7. It’s an incredible time and 100% of proceeds benefit the HeroKids program spearheaded by Ron and Holly. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an experience centered around world-class training, great people, and amazing weather 🏝️😎
