Mendo Tree House

Mendo Tree House Private Mendocino home with luxury outdoor spa - where rest, and retreat, meet the redwoods.

There are places you visit, and places that seem to stay with you.

Maybe it’s the way the house disappears into the redwoods. The tree growing straight through the middle of it. The light shifting through the windows as the day moves slowly by.

Or maybe it’s something harder to name.

The feeling of waking up and realizing there is nowhere you need to be. Of drinking your coffee while the forest wakes up around you. Of remembering that an entire day can be spent simply noticing where you are.

The Mendocino Tree House has always been a little unexpected. Built around nature rather than apart from it. A place that asks very little of you, except perhaps to slow down long enough to feel it.

You may come because you’ve never stayed anywhere quite like this.

But we hope you leave remembering what it felt like to have nowhere else you needed to be.

And maybe that’s something worth taking home with you:

You don’t always need to be getting somewhere.
Sometimes, being fully where you are is enough.

Not every house has a tree growing through the middle of it.
But then again, the Tree House was never meant to be an ordinary house.

Here, a living redwood rises through the heart of the home, blurring the line between architecture and the forest that surrounds it.

Step outside and five private acres of trees become your backyard. Spend the afternoon exploring the Mendocino Coast, then come home for a sauna, an outdoor shower beneath the canopy, a record spinning inside, and an evening under the stars.

It’s a house designed not just to sit among the redwoods, but to feel like part of them.

And we think that’s what makes staying here a little hard to forget.

Some places deserve a spot on your bucket list.

This is one of them.

Not because it’s luxurious.
Not because it’s hidden.
Not because it’s Instagram-worthy.

Because it’s one of those rare places that makes you feel different the moment you arrive.

A home thoughtfully designed around a living redwood. Five private acres where the forest becomes your backyard. A wood-fired sauna, outdoor shower, and spa tucked beneath the trees. Mornings that begin with birdsong instead of alarms. Evenings spent around the fire or beneath a sky full of stars.

And when you’re ready to explore, one of California’s most extraordinary coastlines is only minutes away. Wander through towering redwood groves, stroll the cliffs above the Pacific, explore Mendocino Village, then return to a place that feels worlds away from everything else.

The Tree House isn’t simply somewhere to stay.
It’s somewhere to experience.
Somewhere that reminds you how good it feels to live a little more slowly.

The kind of place you’ll find yourself recommending to friends before you’ve even unpacked at home.
Some places are worth visiting.
This one is worth remembering.

It’s less about having more, and more about having exactly what you need.

Space. Quiet. Privacy. Thoughtful design. A sauna warming beneath the trees. An outdoor shower under the canopy. A record playing while dinner cooks. Five acres of forest with nowhere you need to be.

Here, the view isn’t something framed on the wall. It’s outside every window, and in one very special place, a living redwood comes right through the house.

Maybe luxury is simply having the time and space to notice it all.

The best architecture doesn’t compete with nature.
It listens to it.

Every window frames the forest. Every room invites the outdoors in. A living redwood grows through the center of the home, reminding you that this place wasn’t built to stand apart from its surroundings—it was built to belong to them.

Just beyond the house, five private acres of forest unfold. Minutes away, the Pacific crashes against the coastline.
It’s a rare balance of design, nature, and quiet that feels almost impossible to find.

Some places are built.
Others are discovered.

We often think rest comes from sleeping longer or taking time off.

But sometimes what we’re really missing is quiet.
The kind of quiet where the only sounds are birds in the trees, the wind moving through the forest, rain on the roof, or the distant rhythm of the ocean.

At Mendo Tree House, silence isn’t empty.
It makes space.
Space to think.
Space to breathe.
Space to reconnect with yourself, with the people beside you, and with the natural world around you.
Maybe that’s why so many guests tell us they leave feeling lighter than when they arrived.
Not because they did more.

Because, for a little while, they finally did less. 🌲

There’s something about slowing down beneath the redwoods that changes the way you see things.

The emails can wait.
The to-do list becomes less important.
Time feels a little more abundant.
You notice the sound of the wind through the trees. You linger over your morning coffee. You stay outside until the stars come out.

It’s amazing how a few quiet days can remind you of what matters most.

You’ll leave with beautiful photos, of course.

But more importantly, you’ll leave with a different pace, a clearer mind, and a feeling you’ll want to come back to again and again.
