New to Mendocino? Here's a solo trip you can actually follow. 🌲 Save this one.

✦ Day 1 — Settle in + sunset. Drop your bags, then catch golden hour from the cliffs at Mendocino Headlands State Park, right by the village. You'll quickly learn you're spoiled for sunset spots here.

✦ Day 2 — Redwoods + waterfalls. Wander Russian Gulch State Park (that famous bridge, plus a fern-canyon trail to a waterfall), then chase another sunset at Van Damme State Park — beach on one side, redwoods and a pygmy forest on the other.

✦ Day 3 — Fort Bragg day trip. Ride the Skunk Train railbikes through the redwoods (electric-assist, so no need to be super fit), then poke around Glass Beach and the coastal trails at MacKerricher — keep an eye out for seals.

✦ Any morning — go slow. The best part of a solo trip: nowhere to be. Coffee, a walk, the birds, the fog burning off.

🛏️ Where to stay: Brewery Gulch Inn, just south of the village — a locally-sourced breakfast with a view, and an evening wine-and-appetizers hour that's honestly generous enough to be dinner. Central, quiet, and genuinely made for traveling solo.
