Today, especially, I reflect on what it means to come from a military family. From a very young age, you see the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but by the families who stand beside them. That sense of duty, pride, resilience, and love for country becomes woven into who you are.
My father, my brother, my sister, my nephew, and my great-nephew have all served our country, and I carry immense gratitude and respect for each of them — and for every family who has answered that call.

This Memorial Day, may we remember the fallen heroes who gave everything, and the families who continue to carry that loss with strength and grace. As we gather with friends and family, fire up the grill, enjoy the lake, the sunshine, and a much-needed day off, may we also pause for a moment of gratitude.

Tip your hat. Raise your glass. Say a prayer.
And never forget the cost of the freedoms we so easily enjoy. 🇺🇸

Learn the art of fly fishing at Andiamo Lodge, where the rhythm of the river becomes part of the experience. Guests will be introduced to the fundamentals of fly fishing — from understanding the difference between conventional and fly fishing to learning the anatomy of the rod, reel, line, and leader.

Along the way, we’ll explore casting techniques, the beauty and purpose of fly selection, and the unique ecosystem of Little River and Little River Canyon. At Andiamo, we rarely believe in doing the same thing twice. Call it creative A.D.D., but we’re switching things up for our next Summer Pottery & More Makers Retreat — and honestly, we think it may be our favorite one yet.
Join us for a weekend of creating, gathering, learning, and slowing down with the incredibly talented Josh Miller and Lauren Scott.
This time around, guests will create not one, but two pottery projects — one handmade from scratch and one paint-your-own pottery piece. We’ll also gather around the table for a food demonstration with Josh Miller, Southern Living’s food editor extraordinaire, sharing his signature warmth, stories, and delicious inspiration.
And because we always believe beauty belongs everywhere, Lauren of Wild Good & Garden will lead a hands-on floral arranging experience filled with seasonal blooms and natural creativity.
All of it woven together with cozy lodge mornings, gourmet breakfasts, beautiful meals, laughter, and the magic that always seems to happen around the Andiamo table.

Mother’s Day. And every day.
A day to celebrate the strong women, the influential women, the mothers of four-legged babies, and the women who cared for us, believed in us, shaped us, and continue to love us unconditionally.
I lost my mum in my 30s, but this day does not make me sad. Instead, it makes me reflect with gratitude. I’m so proud of my sisters who are wonderful mums and grandmothers, grateful for my lovely mother-in-law, and thankful for all of the remarkable women who have helped me become who I am.
Today, I find joy in remembering not only my mum, but my auntie Pat and the countless moments of guidance, encouragement, laughter, and love that women so beautifully give to one another.
I think my mum would be proud. I know I am proud to be her daughter.
So today, from all of us at Andiamo Lodge, here’s a toast to Norah…
Thanks Mum. You are missed. 🧡

Looking back…
The first tree we cut during the renovation had to be cut.
I remember standing there, filming as it came down— crying—while the arborist worked with precision between the buildings. At one point he looked at me and said, “I’ve never seen someone so emotional about a tree.”
But as he got further down,I had an idea .
“Wait,” I said. “Let’s keep it.”
And so we did.
What was once a tree became a table. The deck was built around it. A new purpose, rooted in the same place.
Four years on, it’s gathered stories of its own—coffee at sunrise, cocktails at dusk, strangers becoming friends.
This is just one small chapter in the making of Andiamo. There are many more to come and I’m excited to share the making of .
