Most people only catch a glimpse of Salt River Canyon from the highway—but the real beauty lies far beyond the pavement. Towering canyon walls, hidden overlooks, rugged trails, and a kind of silence you just can’t find from the roadside.

He’s back for seconds. Ash Creek Canyon had an orchard to help feed the 250 people that use to live here. This is one of the remaining apple trees. For most of the time people lived here is was a two day trip on horse back to Globe one way. It’s hard to believe because Globe is approximately 40 miles away. This was truly Arizona’s last frontier area. It’s still that way today. This is the last place that you can see what Arizona looked like in the 1800’s. See you soon!
