El Paseo means “a walk,” otherwise known as the perfect way of moving if you want to experience life in all of its vibrancy. Fittingly, our hotel is located on charming Española Way, modeled after the iconic Las Ramblas in Barcelona and villages of the Mediterranean and France. Stroll along the pedestrian-only promenade and you might see people sharing crepes at an authentic French sidewalk cafe, trying on sunglasses at one of many interesting boutiques, or enjoying an authentic flamenco dance under twinkling white lights – all sights you’d miss if you were whizzing by. Any time of day, Española Way offers a safe, fun and communal experience - like that of a true Miamian. So come on, take a walk on the vibrant side.
If you’re like us, you travel to feel something. To unearth something authentic and original. To soak up the…whatever-it-is that makes a destination unique. In Miami Beach, that place is Española Way. Tucked away from the traffic and tourism of Ocean Drive, this historic cobblestone street hums with singing waiters, twinkling lights and flamenco dancing. The street is car-free – meaning added safety and a connected energy between the unique outlets and people who come to visit from all over the world. Boutiques, shops, beauty salons, lounges and restaurants of every ethnic cuisine in the rainbow line the street, and as guests of Paseo Hotel, we are happy to offer 15% off your purchases at any of them. Even though you don’t have to leave Española Way to have a great trip, we’re a short stroll to the famous Lincoln Road Mall and Ocean Drive, Miami Beach Convention Center and the beach, and can help you make arrangements for boat and/or bus tours, city bikes and moped rentals. After all, we’ve heard that coming home to Española Way after a day in Miami is a magical experience all its own.
The five three-story villas that are now Paseo Hotel have always been a bohemian’s dream. Originally built in 1925 as apartment buildings in the Mediterranean Revival style, the hotel features elements of Spanish, Moroccan, Italian, and French architecture, like tile roofs, rounded archways and charming balconies. Not surprisingly, its stylish flair appealed to Cuban artists who came to live here in the 1950s and 60s, and for 25 years, the building was known as the Española Way Art Center, housing such notable artists as Kenny Scharf, Miralda, and Craig Coleman. Some of the rooms even have full-service kitchens, giving our guests that ultimate, Miami pied-a-terre experience. In short, if you feel the need to pick up a pen or paintbrush while you’re here, there’s a whole lot of history backing you up.
