Fun fact: Architect B. Robert Swartburg created the Vagabond Hotel, and the Vagabond Motel opened at 7301 Biscayne Boulevard to welcome post-war motorists. Its pool floor was set with a vivid mosaic of a mermaid and dolphins, quickly becoming an emblem of mid-century roadside kitsch and glamour. The pool courtyard even doubled as a secret hangout for Rat Pack stars like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin.
