A Glimpse Into the History of Loch Lomond Resort

Before the modern era, before social media, and long before the recent revival of the pool, bar, grill, and resort, artists were already capturing the charm and beauty of Loch Lomond Resort.

This beautiful vintage postcard illustration showcases the historic resort nestled among the towering pines of Cobb Mountain. Drawn by the talented artist Q. Arroyo, this artwork reflects a time when travelers came to Loch Lomond seeking fresh mountain air, natural springs, relaxation, and community.

For generations, Loch Lomond has been more than just a destination—it has been a gathering place where families created memories, friendships were formed, and visitors escaped the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The resort has witnessed nearly a century of history, welcoming countless guests who fell in love with the beauty of Lake County, California.

Today, we are honored to continue that tradition while breathing new life into this historic landmark. From the reopening of the historic pool and Roadhouse to community events, live music, great food, and future improvements, we remain committed to preserving the spirit of Loch Lomond while building its next chapter.

A Celebration of the Life of Joan Carol Moss At Loch Lomond Road House

It is with a full heart that I share a few words about a woman who touched so many lives in our community.

Joan Carol Moss was more than a talented musician, journalist, teacher, lifeguard, and community advocate. To many of us, she was a friend, a familiar smile, and a steady presence whose kindness and spirit enriched our lives.

I had the privilege of sharing many mornings with Joan by the pool. Those quiet conversations, her wisdom, her stories, and her love for people left a lasting impression on me. She carried herself with grace, intelligence, and a genuine concern for her community. Whether through her music, her journalism, her faith, or her dedication to teaching others, Joan spent her life giving back.

As a professional musician, she filled countless venues throughout Lake County and beyond with beautiful music. As a journalist, she fearlessly pursued truth and spoke up for those whose voices often went unheard. As a swim instructor and lifeguard, she helped generations of local children gain confidence and safety in the water. As Music Director at Our Lady of the Pines, she shared her faith through song and service.

Joan's legacy is not measured only by her accomplishments, but by the countless lives she touched along the way.

It is an honor for me, and for the entire team at Loch Lomond Resort, to host this celebration of Joan's life on June 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We welcome family, friends, musicians, neighbors, former students, and all whose lives were touched by Joan to come together, share memories, tell stories, and celebrate a life well lived.

Joan loved music. She loved swimming. She loved her community. And she loved bringing people together.

May we do the same in her honor.

To our Loch Lomond and Cobb Mountain community,
Out of respect for myself, my staff, my businesses, and the community projects we are working so hard to preserve, I will be temporarily declining attendance at Water Board meetings and related sittings for the remainder of this month.
This decision follows an incident yesterday in which I was physically assaulted during an interaction involving a Water Board member. While I do not wish to create further division or negativity within our small mountain community, I also have a responsibility to maintain a safe and professional environment for myself, my employees, and the public.
Furthermore, the individual involved is hereby requested to stay clear from the Loch Lomond Roadhouse, Resort Pool, and surrounding private business operations until further notice. The safety, comfort, and peace of our patrons, staff, and local families remain my top priority.
Despite this unfortunate situation, my commitment to the community has not changed. I will continue focusing on restoring and improving the historic Loch Lomond Resort Pool, supporting local tourism, creating jobs, and advocating for the betterment of our mountain communities.
I sincerely hope that cooler heads prevail moving forward and that future disagreements can be handled respectfully, professionally, and peacefully.
