Today we have a photo of the raising of the first community Christmas tree in Middletown, Ohio. Original item is dated December 24, 1914 and it appeared in the December 1915 issue of the Armco Bulletin. Collection item is a photograph of the item from the Armco Bulletin.

Middletown's first municipal Christmas tree celebration took place December 24, 1914. The committee wanted the tree known as "Everybody's Tree." It was thirty feet high and lit with myriads of multi-colored lights. On top was a large star that was lit by electricity. The tree was located in front of the Ben Harwitz home at the corner of Vanderveer and Broadway. This photograph was used in the December 1915 issue of the Armco Bulletin.
