2. Both online and phone reservations for rooms must be made before 4 pm. Same day reservations must be paid in entirety at time reservations made. Check-ins on Monday and Tuesday require an estimated arrival and phone/ text upon arrival; 15 min arrival notice is appreciated.
3. Please leave a phone message if we do not pick up on the first call. Wednesday to Saturday - Our staff will be onsite unless errands or other projects are being worked. The On-Call Sign will be posted in these instances.
4. Plunges are open to the public 9 am to 7 pm.

For wide, open views of the night sky, consider Big Badlands Overlook, Panorama Point or Conata Basin Overlook. The best viewing is typically between midnight and dawn, with activity increasing as the early morning hours approach.
Bring a chair or blanket, allow your eyes time to adjust, and keep lights to a minimum. Please remain in designated areas and use extra caution around roads, wildlife, and steep terrain after dark.

Hotel Helga entertaining Maddie as her owner enjoyed the plunge and massage chairs. We played some dog anxiety relief music, lots of pets and Helga’s shared her mischievous antics to help relieve the hounds’ nervousness.

Yes! Dogs are welcome and …. if they are well behaved, so are their humans 😉

Helga made desperate attempts at getting me moving at 6 am.. Ok I got up at 7 and made her a week’s worth of food. HFS 3ish

We played ball at home in front yard hoping that would ware her out for the ride.. Did it work? anyone with a puppy knows the answer. HFS 6ish (need more play)

Drive and errands in Pierre. HFS 0 Until we grabbed lunch and ate by the river. HFS 25

Once we got back to Midland and checked in a guest. Helga did her best greet, meet and chew our guests HFS 8.

3) A big thunderstorm moved in with wind, thunder, and heavy rain. HFS 2

Happy ! The Park’s most elusive inhabitant is the black-footed ferret. They were declared extinct in 1979, but in 1981 a dog brought one home to its owners on a ranch in Wyoming. The owners said, “what a weird-looking pine marten” and brought it to a taxidermist who recognized it for what it was.

Since then, black-footed ferrets have rebounded some with the help of captive breeding programs and re-introductions throughout the area, but they are still considered the most endangered mammal in North America. There are likely only around 300-400 in the wild. Around 40 -50 of those live in Wind Cave National Park!
