We are a family run motel that has been serving Down East Maine for over 30 years Check back often for updates on both projects.

The motel is conveniently located within walking distance of shopping, dining, and waterfront scenes in Milbridge, Maine. We are currently renovating and updating our rooms to better serve our guests, but we are open during this process. We are also planning to rebuild one of our units that was recently loss to a fire.

MONARCH UPDATE: CHECK-OUT DAY! 🦋🏨

Well, our tiniest motel guest has officially checked out…

And naturally, he picked the rainiest day possible. 😂🌧️

From butterfly, to caterpillar, to chrysalis, and now back to butterfly — we’ve watched this little guy through the whole process right here at the motel.

Apparently even monarchs don’t always check the weather before making travel plans. 😉 But no worries, we’ve relocated this traveler to a bit dryer area to shake the raindrops off.

The Monarch Saga Continues… 🐛🦋

First, we had a butterfly enjoying the river view.
Then we found her caterpillar wandering the deck and gave it a ride back to the milkweed.

And now… WE HAVE A CHRYSALIS. 😂

Apparently, the monarchs have decided the motel is the place to be for all stages of life.

We found this little green jewel hanging right on the side of the motel today, quietly doing its thing and preparing for its big transformation.

No reservations. No check-in. No checkout date. Just a tiny guest taking advantage of the best accommodations in town. 😉

Stay tuned for the next chapter… because apparently we’re invested now. 🧡

Yesterday’s monarch butterfly was gracefully overlooking the river.

Today, we found what we can only assume is her teenager… wandering the deck like it pays the bills. 😅

A quick es**rt back to the milkweed, where the snacks are and the life-changing transformation happens.

Around here, we’re not just in the hospitality business—we’re apparently running wildlife shuttle service, too. 🐛🧡

Small-town Maine. Even our tiniest guests get a helping hand.

Well, would ya look at that…

The monarchs are checking in before the leaf peepers again. 🦋

Can’t say we blame ‘em. If you’ve got a patch of milkweed, a river view, and a front-row seat to watch the world slow down, you’d stick around too.

Small-town Maine doesn’t need much to impress—just a little sunshine, a little wildlife, and a whole lot of “stay a while.” 💛 🌿

Around here, family business really means family business. ❤️

Today’s helper is our fourth-generation worker, pitching in with the daily motel chores and learning that running a small business takes teamwork, pride, and a little elbow grease.

The Red Barn Motel has always been built on family, hard work, and the people who choose to stay with us year after year. We’re grateful to be a locally owned motel where the next generation is already learning the ropes.

☀️ What a difference a day makes 😎
Yesterday was pouring rain and wind, then the skies opened today to this gorgeous view. Our garden needed the rain for certain, but isn’t it nice to see the sun today.

Not all of our guests check in at the front desk. 🌙💚

This beautiful Luna moth stopped by the front door to say hello and reminded us that some of the best things about Maine can’t be found on a reservation website.

Quiet mornings, starry nights, river breezes, and the occasional visit from one of nature’s masterpieces.
